Dust off your DNA swabs and black lights, CSI<\/em> is making a comeback. According to multiple reports, CBS is looking to revive CSI: Crime Scene Investigation<\/em> for a limited series just in time to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the premiere.<\/p>\n

CBS declined to comment on the revival miniseries reports.<\/p>\n

According to The Hollywood Reporter<\/a>, series creator Anthony Zuiker<\/strong> is behind the revival with executive producer Jerry Bruckheimer<\/strong>. Jason Racey<\/strong> is penning the script, but no stars have officially signed on as the project is said to be in the deal-making phase. <\/p>\n

CSI<\/em> ran for 15 seasons on CBS between 2000-2015 and spawned a number of spinoffs\u2014CSI: New York<\/em>, CSI: Miami<\/em> and CSI: Cyber<\/em>\u2014and at times was ranked as the most-watched show in the world. The concluded its in September 2015 with a two-hour special featuring original series stars William Petersen<\/strong> and Marg Helgenberger<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

The ensemble cast over the years included Ted Danson<\/strong>, Gary Dourdan<\/strong>, George Eads<\/strong>, Paul Guilfoyle<\/strong>, Jorja Fox<\/strong>, Laurence Fishburne<\/strong>, Liz Vassey<\/strong>, Elisabeth Harnois<\/strong> and Elisabeth Shue<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Helgenberger is currently in the CBS family with All Rise<\/em>.<\/p>\n

In its heyday, CSI<\/em> had more than 30 million viewers. By the time the show wrapped up\u2014and competition ramped up\u2014in 2015, the finale had just 12 million viewers.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

TV revivals continue to be a safe bet for networks as they attempt to reach viewers in an ever-increasing crowded programming landscape. Recent revival event or limited series include Veronica Mars<\/em>, 24: Live Another Day<\/em>, Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life<\/em>, The X-Files<\/em>, Prison Break<\/em> and Twin Peaks<\/em>. CBS previously revived Murphy Brown<\/em>, but the new version of the Candice Bergen<\/strong> sitcom lasted just a season.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

Recent successful ongoing revivals include ABC’s Roseanne<\/em>, which became The Conners<\/em>, and Will & Grace<\/em>, which is wrapping up its revived run after three seasons.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n
