Buckle up, Ryan Murphy<\/a><\/strong> and Co. are taking you back in time for Hollywood<\/em>. The new show, which is being billed as a “limited series,” comes to Netflix and an impressive cast of players from Murphy’s acting troupe including Darren Criss<\/a><\/strong>, Jim Parsons<\/a><\/strong>, Patti LuPone<\/strong> and Dylan McDermott<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Hollywood<\/em>, set in, you know, Hollywood, follows a group of aspiring actors and filmmakers in post-World War II Los Angeles. They’re trying to make it big in Tinseltown\u2014no matter what. According Netflix, “Each character offers a unique glimpse behind the gilded curtain of Hollywood’s Golden Age, spotlighting the unfair systems and biases across race, gender and sexuality that continue to this day.”<\/p>\n

Described as “provocative and incisive,” Netflix says Hollywood<\/em> “exposes and examines decades-old power dynamics, and what the entertainment landscape might look like if they had been dismantled.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

Murphy, Ian Brennan<\/strong>, Alexis Martin Woodall<\/strong> and Janet Mock<\/strong> are executive producers. Murphy, Brennan and Mock are writers on the series.<\/p>\n

The cast includes The Politician<\/em> breakout David Corenswet<\/strong>, American Crime Story<\/em> Emmy winner Darren Criss, Tony nominee Jeremy Pope<\/strong>, Ready or Not<\/em>‘s Samara Weaving<\/strong>, Spider-Man: Homecoming<\/em> star Laura Harrier<\/strong>, The Big Bang Theory<\/em> veteran Jim Parsons, American Horror Story<\/em> and The Politician<\/em> star Dylan McDermott, Holland Taylor<\/strong>, the iconic Patti LuPone, Horse Girl<\/em>‘s Jake Picking<\/strong> and Tony winner Joe Mantello<\/strong>. Guest stars include Maude Apatow<\/strong>, Mira Sorvino<\/a><\/strong> and Rob Reiner<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

Hollywood<\/em> is Murphy’s second Netflix original. The Politician<\/em> starring Ben Platt<\/strong> bowed in September and is in production on a second season. The prolific writer-director-producer also has a slate that includes Ratched<\/em>, Prom<\/em>, The Boys in the Band<\/em>, Halston<\/em> with Ewan McGregor<\/a><\/strong> and a number of other projects in the pipeline for the streamer.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n
