Let’s call this simply “The One With the Reunion.” After months of rumors<\/a>, the Friends<\/em> reunion is officially happening.<\/p>\n

Jennifer Aniston<\/a><\/strong>, Courteney Cox<\/a><\/strong>, Lisa Kudrow<\/a><\/strong>, David Schwimmer<\/a><\/strong>, Matt LeBlanc<\/a><\/strong> and Matthew Perry<\/a><\/strong> have signed on to participate in a taped unscripted reunion special for HBO Max, the new streaming home of Friends<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The special and all episodes will be available at launch time of HBO Max in May 2020. Ben Winston<\/strong> will direct the special and will executive produce along with Friends<\/em> executive producers Kevin Bright<\/strong>, Marta Kauffman<\/strong>, and David Crane<\/strong>. Aniston, Cox, Kudrow, LeBlanc, Perry, and Schwimmer will also executive produce the special. Emma Conway<\/strong> and James Longman<\/strong> are co-executive producers. The cast will tape the special on the show’s original soundstage, Stage 24, on the Warner Bros. lot in Burbank, California.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

“Guess you could call this the one where they all got back together\u2014we are reuniting with David, Jennifer, Courteney, Matt, Lisa, and Matthew for an HBO Max special that will be programmed alongside the entire Friends<\/em> library,” Kevin Reilly<\/strong>, chief content officer, HBO Max and president, TBS, TNT, and truTV, said in a statement. “I became aware of Friends<\/em> when it was in the very early stages of development and then had the opportunity to work on the series many years later and have delighted in seeing it catch on with viewers generation after generation. It taps into an era when friends\u2014and audiences\u2014gathered together in real time and we think this reunion special will capture that spirit, uniting original and new fans.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

According to reports<\/a>, the six Friends<\/em> got a big payday for the special. And let’s be clear: This isn’t a revival or reboot. It’s just six pals, who played friends on TV, getting together to talk about their 25-year-old show. The closest viewers got to a televised Friends<\/em> reunion was in 2016 when Kudrow, Aniston, Cox, Schwimmer and LeBlanc got together to honor director James Burrows<\/strong> on an NBC special.<\/p>\n

The six real-life friends and former costars have gotten together off camera recently, as documented in Aniston’s debut Instagram post<\/a>. In early February, Perry became the sixth and final costar to join the social media platform.<\/a><\/p>\n

Friends<\/em> ran for 10 seasons from 1994-2004 on NBC. The comedy made its streaming debut on Netflix in 2015 and stayed there until the beginning of 2020. WarnerMedia reportedly spent some big bucks to get Friends<\/em> on HBO Max.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

Until the reunion and episodes come to HBO Max in May, TBS announced for the next four weeks every episode of Friends<\/em> will air on TBS and livestream on the TBS app, weekdays from 10:00 a.m. through 4:00 p.m., along with a “best of” on digital platforms.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n
