A growing number of celebrities and athletes are facing COVID-19 with hope and candor. <\/p>\n

Idris Elba<\/a><\/strong>and Game of Thrones<\/em> star Kristofer Hivju<\/strong> both confirmed they tested positive for coronavirus<\/a> on March 16, urging their millions of followers to keep calm and carry on while abiding by health officials’ plan to prevent the spread of the pandemic. <\/p>\n

Last week, Tom Hanks<\/a><\/strong> and Rita Wilson<\/a><\/strong> were among the first celebrities to go public with their diagnosis. “Thanks to the Helpers,” the Oscar winner shared<\/a> on Twitter, referencing a classic Mister Rogers quote, who he brought to life in the 2019 film A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood<\/em>. “Let’s take care of ourselves and each other.”<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Idris has advocated for more “solidarity” in an ever “divided” world. <\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

On March 11, the 63-year-old Oscar winner announced he had tested positive<\/a> for COVID-19 while filming a movie in Australia. Hanks uplifted fans<\/a> with his subsequent health updates, and days later E! News confirmed<\/a> he and wife Rita Wilson<\/strong> were discharged from the hospital but were remaining in isolation at their home in Australia. <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

The country singer, 63, has certainly made the most of her time recovering from coronavirus, compiling and sharing a “quarantunes” playlist<\/a> of hits for those also staying indoors. “So grateful for the outpouring of prayers, love and support. Means so much and strengthens us,” she also shared on Instagram.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

The British actor, 47, was joined by wife Sabrina Dhowre<\/strong> when he announced via video on March 16 that he tested positive for coronavirus<\/a> after coming in contact with someone who had it. Elba, explaining that he didn’t have any symptoms, said, “…Now’s the time to really think about social distancing, washing your hands. Beyond that, there are people out there who aren’t showing symptoms and that can easily spread it.”<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n

There are people at higher risk for who this virus might be a devastating diagnosis, so I urge all of you to be extremely careful; wash your hands, keep 1.5 meters distance from others, go in quarantine; just do everything you can to stop the virus from spreading.”<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
