Sure, sometimes we&#8217;re cooking, but we&#8217;re also taking more than a few trips to our pantry to grab snacks even when we&#8217;re not hungry, and it sounds like we&#8217;re not alone.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;When we&#8217;re home or anxious or scared&#8230;we want foods that are band-aid-ing us,&#8221; Food Network chef and Weelicious founder&nbsp;<strong>Catherine McCord<\/strong> said, &#8220;but what we really, really need\u2014if you&#8217;re going to be shopping\u2014is the produce, fruits and vegetables because you need the vitamins. Even for your mood.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But healthy and delicious don&#8217;t have to mutually exclusive, with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/jennifer_garner\">Jennifer Garner <\/a><\/strong>and<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/sarah_michelle_gellar\"> Sarah Michelle Gellar<\/a><\/strong> both believing in McCord&#8217;s food as medicine approach to mindful eating, which she writes about on her popular <a href=\"https:\/\/weelicious.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Weelicious<\/a> website.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-2\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"62.12865497076\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"17.473684210526\">\n<p>&#8220;I really rely on Weelicious,&#8221; Garner wrote of McCord on her Once Upon a Farm website, &#8220;that Catherine McCord knows what she&#8217;s doing! Fast, fresh and easy recipes for the whole family are her thing and her school lunch recipes are a hit in my house!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>McCord, who recently published <a href=\"https:\/\/weelicious.com\/smoothieproject\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Smoothie Project<\/a>, provided E! While McCord advised stocking up on anything frozen or canned,&nbsp;she also stressed the value of freezing fresh food or meals properly.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&#8220;I think things like proteins, chicken, ground meat that you can freeze, soups and stews and then freeze. I do feel like people&#8217;s freezers are getting overly stocked with things but even today we had some fruits that were getting to their end so we&#8217;re shooting a video right now on how to store fruit, if you can&#8217;t buy it but you have some on hand to freeze it so that you can then add it to smoothies or add into oatmeal.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"photo-txt-4\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"39\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-photo-text\" readability=\"18\">\n<p>So if you are eyeing those browning bananas on your counter right now, McCord has you covered.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Instead of chopping them into slices, you put your finger down the middle of the banana so they split into three and then you just put it on a baking sheet. There was like swiss chard and lettuce and kale,&#8221; she said. &#8220;I mean, literally there wasn&#8217;t an apple to be found but there was tons of greens. So whether you&#8217;re adding your greens to your smoothies, you&#8217;re saut\u00e9ing them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-9\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"64\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"18\">\n<p><strong>How to Spice Up Your Pantry:<\/strong> If you want to avoid making a trip to the grocery store this week, McCord had&nbsp;a big tip for how to stop your own pantry to make small tweaks for a big impact when it comes to nutrition and flavor.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Anytime you have these unusual spices where you&#8217;re like, why did I buy that?&#8221; McCord explained, &#8220;I think it&#8217;s a good time to be using those spices, dig in your spice drawer and add it. Even if you have the most simple food you can make it really interesting and exciting depending on the kind of oil you use and the kind of spice you use.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Think pumpkin pie spice, usually a flavor reserved for fall, in your oatmeal or adding cumin or Indian spices to your go-to soup or stew recipe.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-10\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"62\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"14\">\n<p>Immunity Booster Smoothie<br \/>Serves 1<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;&#8220;As soon as fall begins, I start preparing for that time of year when everyone seems to fall prey to cold and flu season,&#8221; McCord wrote of this nutrient-packed smoothie. &#8220;Instead of stocking up on bottles of vitamins and kids&#8217; multi-gummies, I start reinforcing our immune systems with tons of resistance-building foods.
