Tom Hanks<\/a><\/strong> hosted Saturday Night Live<\/em>‘s first remote episode in what marked his first TV appearance since revealing a month ago that he and wife Rita Wilson<\/a><\/strong> had contracted the novel coronavirus in Australia. The two have since recovered and returned to the United States<\/a>, where they have practiced social distancing at home. And so are millions of others, including the SNL<\/em> cast…thus the remote episode.<\/p>\n

1. Tom Hanks’ Monologue:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Speaking in front of a kitchen, Hanks, sporting a semi-shaved head\u2014a look he sported for his latest acting role\u2014made a Tiger King <\/em>reference and talked about his coronavirus diagnosis.<\/p>\n

“I have been the celebrity canary in the coal mine for the coronavirus and ever since I have I have been more like America’s Dad than ever before since no one wants to be around me very long and I make people uncomfortable,” he joked.<\/p>\n

Hanks later took questions from two “audience members”\u2014both played by himself.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

2. Zoom Call:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Cast members Aidy Bryant<\/a><\/strong> and Kate McKinnon<\/a><\/strong> play older receptionists who can’t quite grasp proper group video call etiquette. Think poop jokes.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

3. Pete Davidson’s Drake Music Video:<\/strong><\/p>\n

The cast member parodies a Drake song and music video in a clip set in his mom’s basement, directed by his mom.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

4. MasterClass<\/em> Quarantine Edition:<\/strong><\/p>\n

SNL <\/em>star Chloe Fineman<\/strong> does impressions of Timoth\u00e9e Chalamet<\/a><\/strong>, JoJo Siwa<\/strong> and Carole Baskin<\/strong> from Tiger King<\/em> in this Masterclass<\/em> parody.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

5. Tribute to Hal Willner:<\/strong><\/p>\n

SNL<\/em> cast, past and present, recorded tribute messages for Willner, a record producer who oversaw sketch music for the show and recently died of coronavirus complications at age 64. They also sang Lou Reed<\/strong>‘s “Perfect Day.”<\/p>\n

The list of SNL<\/em> alumni who participated includedAdam Sandler<\/a><\/strong>, Tina Fey<\/a><\/strong>, Amy Poehler<\/a><\/strong>, Maya Rudolph<\/a><\/strong>, Bill Hader<\/a><\/strong>, Fred Armisen<\/strong>, Molly Shannon<\/strong>, Rachel Dratch <\/strong>and Ana Gasteyer<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n
