News, a judge granted Joe&#8217;s (whose real name is&nbsp;<strong>Joseph Maldonado-Passage<\/strong>) request for an extension to file an objection in the civil case. In a letter submitted by Joe, which you can read below, the former zookeeper writes from a Texas prison medical facility, where he was&nbsp;placed in quarantine due to coronavirus concerns.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Sorry for the handwritten letter,&#8221; Joe writes, &#8220;However I am being isolated at the Federal Medical Center in Fort Worth and have no access to a computer, phone, email or library to respond to the government&#8217;s last request. I am asking for at least [a] 30-day extension to the deadline of April 28th, 2020 in hopes I am allowed access to use things in order to properly answer their request.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>U.S. District Judge Scott L. Palk set Joe&#8217;s new deadline to May 28.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>E! News can also exclusively report that as of Thursday, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1141202\/tiger-king-s-dillon-passage-says-prison-quarantine-is-taking-a-toll-on-joe-exotic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Joe&nbsp;is out of quarantine<\/a> and transferred to a special housing unit within the prison he&#8217;s serving <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1137716\/tiger-king-where-the-stars-ended-up-after-crossing-paths-with-joe-exotic\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">his 22-year sentence<\/a>&nbsp;in.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-2\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"62\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"14\">\n<p>He will now have more time to respond to the federal magistrate judge, who in documents filed on April 8 and obtained by E! News, recommended to the district court judge that Joe&#8217;s lawsuit be dismissed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Joe is suing&nbsp;the U.S. Federal Wildlife Service, the United States Department of Interior, his former business partner and current owner of Oklahoma&#8217;s Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park&nbsp;<strong>Jeff Lowe<\/strong> to the tune of $88,840,000.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-4\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"68.029126213592\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"29.155339805825\">\n<p>According to the documents, Joe is seeking &#8220;$73,840,000.00 in damages and an additional $15,000,000.00 for false arrest, false imprisonment, discrimination, malicious prosecution, selective enforcement, misinterpreting the law and the death of [his mother]&nbsp;<strong>Shirley Schreibvogel<\/strong>.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The judge writes in&nbsp;his recommendation&nbsp;that Joe does not have an attorney, adding that his complaint &#8220;[failed]&nbsp;to cite proper legal authority&#8221; and&nbsp;had a &#8220;confusion of various legal theories,&#8221; &#8220;poor syntax and sentence construction.&#8221; He recommends Joe re-submit the case as a habeas corpus proceeding, and argues that the civil case cannot be heard until his criminal appeal proceeds.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Joe is currently appealing his 2019 conviction for killing five tigers at his Oklahoma zoo and attempting to execute a murder-for-hire plot against wildlife conservationist <strong>Carole Baskin<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1137328\/tiger-king-s-joe-exotic-speaks-from-prison-i-m-done-with-the-carole-baskin-saga\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">recent interview with Netflix<\/a> from behind bars, Joe said,&nbsp;&#8220;It&#8217;s now time to turn the tables and Joe get out of jail a free man and exonerated from all these charges.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-5\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"56\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"2\">\n<p><strong>\u2014Reporting by Jessica Finn<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1141669\/see-joe-exotic-s-handwritten-letter-to-judge-in-89-million-false-arrest-lawsuit?cmpid=rss-000000-rssfeed-365-topstories&#038;utm_source=eonline&#038;utm_medium=rssfeeds&#038;utm_campaign=rss_topstories\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: E!
