News, New York photographer Steve Sands is accusing the singer and her production company Nuyorican Productions for copyright infringement and seeks an excess of $150,000 in damages.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The federal lawsuit cites that Lopez used the photograph taken of her by Sands to &#8220;promote their brand&#8221; on Instagram\u2014where the singer has over 119 million followers\u2014without receiving permission to post or any compensation.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The photo of Lopez, taken by&nbsp;the New York photographer, received over <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/BVqE_omFkKc\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">656,000 likes<\/a>. It was posted on June 22, 2017.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Defendants did not license the Photograph from Plaintiff for its Website, nor did Defendants have Plaintiff&#8217;s permission or consent to publish the Photograph on its Website,&#8221; the lawsuit cites.&nbsp;According to the court documents, the photographer is &#8220;entitled to statutory damages up to $150,000 per work infringed.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-2\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"58\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"6\">\n<p>The lawsuit was filed in Manhattan federal court by lawyer&nbsp;<strong>Richard Liebowitz<\/strong>. He tells E! News,&nbsp;&#8220;This is an example of celebrities using photographers photographs without permission to brand themselves on social media. The number of likes the photograph receives coupled with their number of social media followers is a tool to commercialize their posts.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"photo-txt-3\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"34.787644787645\">\n<div class=\"column post-content__image--left post-content__image\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\"> <img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image--full\" src=\"https:\/\/akns-images.eonline.com\/eol_images\/Entire_Site\/202026\/rs_634x1024-200306092246-634-Jennifer-Lopez-LT-030620-MEGA624920_011.jpg?fit=inside|900:auto&amp;output-quality=90\" title=\"Jennifer Lopez\" alt=\"Jennifer Lopez\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"image__credits\">MEGA <\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-photo-text\" readability=\"20.441319107662\">\n<p>Back in Oct. 2019, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1080420\/jennifer-lopez-sued-for-150-000-over-alex-rodriguez-picture\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the &#8220;Love Don&#8217;t Cost a Thing&#8221; singer was also sued for $150,000<\/a> over a picture&nbsp;she posted of&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/alex_rodriguez\">Alex Rodriguez<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;to her Instagram Story<strong>&nbsp;<\/strong>in 2017.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>According to the court documents, filed by Splash News and Picture Agency and obtained by E! News, the picture in question showed the <em>Hustlers<\/em> star holding hands with Rodriguez while out in New York City. In the docs, Splash News and Picture Agency states that they are the owner and exclusive copyright holder of the picture Lopez posted.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1109248\/jennifer-lopez-s-production-company-sued-for-40-million-by-stripper-who-inspired-hustlers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Lopez and her production were once again sued for $40 million dollars<\/a> by the woman who inspired the actress&#8217; character Ramona in&nbsp;<em>Hustlers<\/em>, Samantha Barbash.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/theblast.com\/c\/jennifer-lopez-sued-40-million-hustlers-real-life-stripper-Samatha-Barbash-drug-scene-lawsuit-court-golden-globes-alex-rodriguez\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">In court documents obtained by&nbsp;<em>The Blast<\/em>,<\/a>&nbsp;Barbash &#8220;claims the film producers approached her before production to &#8220;obtain a consent waiver form Ms. Barbash for the production of the film and their ultimate portrayal&#8221; of her. She refused to sign off on the consent or waive her privacy rights.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>E!
