Irrfan Khan<\/strong> has passed away.<\/p>\n

The beloved actor, who starred in Slumdog Millionaire<\/em> and Life of Pi<\/em>, died on Wednesday at the age of 53.<\/p>\n

“It’s saddening that this day, we have to bring forward the news of him passing away,” his rep said in a statement (via CNN<\/a>). “Irrfan was a strong soul, someone who fought till the very end and always inspired everyone who came close to him.”<\/p>\n

Back in 2018, Khan shared<\/a> with fans on social media that he had been diagnosed with a neuroendocrine tumor. According to CNN, Khan was hospitalized in Mumbai earlier this week and admitted to the ICU due to a colon infection.<\/p>\n

After learning the heartbreaking news of Khan’s passing, many fans, friends and fellow stars have been taking to social media to pay tribute to the actor.<\/p>\n

“The world will always remember your legacy #irrfankhan,” Priyanka Chopra<\/a><\/strong> wrote in a message on Instagram<\/a>. “You fought like a warrior.. Rest in peace my friend.. My condolences to the family.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

“Rest in peace one of the greatest actors of our time, Irrfan Khan,” Riz Ahmed<\/strong> tweeted<\/a>. “I never met him but he was an inspiration and a hero to me and millions of others. His work was consistently transcendent, he was a guiding light for so many of us.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

“Irrfan’s art and humanity will be badly missed,” Kal Penn<\/a><\/strong> wrote on Instagram<\/a>. “Never seen someone use the beats of silence so beautifully to convey so much about who we are. Sending love to Sutapa and the family.”<\/p>\n

Director Ava DuVernay<\/a><\/strong> also tweeted, “A grateful fan of #IrrfanKhan here. Gone too soon. When he is on screen, you can’t take your eyes off of him. He lives on in his films.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n
