The events were chronicled in <em>Abducted in Plain Sight<\/em>, a documentary currently on Netflix. Both Broberg and her mother <strong>Mary Ann Broberg<\/strong> will serve as producers on the series. Antosca is executive producing, <strong>Alex Hedlund<\/strong> is co-executive producer and <em>Abducted in Plain Sight<\/em> director <strong>Skye Borgman<\/strong> is consulting producer.<\/p>\n<p>The untitled series will tell the story of the Broberg clan and Jan who was kidnapped multiple times over&nbsp;several&nbsp;years by an obsessed family friend. The family&nbsp;was unprepared and groomed by the neighbor&nbsp;who&nbsp;turned their daughter against them. The series will tell the story of how lives were altered and how they survived.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-2\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"56.5\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"3\">\n<p>Mary Ann Broberg wrote a memoir about the events in <em>Stolen Innocence: The Jan Broberg Story<\/em>. The 2017 documentary <em>Abducted in Plain Sight<\/em> became a hit when it landed on Netflix in 2019.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-3\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"58.31592039801\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"8.8208955223881\">\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m actually incredibly grateful and humbled because the reason that you tell a story such as mine is that you really hope to help the most number of people possible. And there is no greater platform than actually being on Netflix,&#8221; Broberg, who is the executive director of the Center for the Arts at Kayenta, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1015572\/the-one-thing-abducted-in-plain-sight-viewers-don-t-understand-according-to-jan-broberg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">told E! News<\/a> in February 2019. &#8220;It&#8217;s given me the opportunity to actually be able to talk about what happened and maybe help somebody else prevent it from happening to their own children\u2026raise awareness, get our antennas up and start a conversation that maybe otherwise wouldn&#8217;t happen\u2026&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-4\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"61\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"12\">\n<p>Viewers were swift to judge Broberg&#8217;s parents, and in an interview with E! News, Broberg said forgiving them was part of the healing process\u2014for all.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I think part of my forgiving my parents was really to help them forgive themselves and to say you too were groomed and brainwashed,&#8221; she said. &#8220;And that&#8217;s the part that I don&#8217;t think people really understand. If it was easy to understand, they&#8217;d see it, and they don&#8217;t.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-5\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"60.212389380531\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"15.29203539823\">\n<p>Antosca&#8217;s <em>The Act<\/em> starred <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/patricia_arquette\">Patricia Arquette<\/a><\/strong> and <strong>Joey King<\/strong> as mother-daughter duo <strong>Dee Dee Blanchard<\/strong> and <strong>Gypsy Rose Blanchard<\/strong>. The true crime series was co-written by Michelle Dean, author of the article that inspired the series. The murder of Dee Dee Blanchard was also the subject of <em>Mommy Dead and Dearest<\/em>, an HBO documentary that explored the crime, Gypsy&#8217;s involvement and the suspected influence of Munchausen syndrome by proxy.<\/p>\n<p>UCP, which is a division of NBCUniversal Content Studios, is also developing a&nbsp;<em>Joe Exotic<\/em>&nbsp;limited series with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/kate_mckinnon\">Kate McKinnon<\/a><\/strong> as <em>Tiger King: Murder, Mayhem and Madness<\/em> figure&nbsp;<strong>Carole Baskin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>(E! and UCP are both part of the NBCUniversal family.)<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1149403\/jan-broberg-s-abduction-story-becoming-tv-series-from-nick-antosca?cmpid=rss-000000-rssfeed-365-topstories&#038;utm_source=eonline&#038;utm_medium=rssfeeds&#038;utm_campaign=rss_topstories\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">via:: E!
