It may still be a few more days until Mother’s Day, but this mom just got a sweet early surprise. <\/p>\n

With some help from Blake Shelton<\/a><\/strong>, Today<\/em> co-anchor Hoda Kotb<\/a><\/strong> helped honor a mother and daughter with an incredible story. As Kotb explained, Bridgette Robinson<\/strong>, a nursing assistant, tested positive for coronavirus in April and spent weeks on a ventilator at the hospital where her daughter, Sylvia Johnson<\/strong>, works also as a nurse. <\/p>\n

Fortunately, Bridgette ultimately recovered from the deadly virus and was able to leave the hospital. After Sylvia credited God, prayers and her mom’s “fight for life” for helping her survive, Kotb gave them a gift inspired by their faith. <\/p>\n

Shelton joined them via video to perform an uplifting serenade of “God Gave Me You.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

“The whole time I heard you guys talking and you keep throwing it back to God…I want to dedicate this song from me to you guys as nurses and being out there on the front lines,” he said. “I think this song really speaks to your relationship with each other if you ask me.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

As a bonus gift, the hospital team who helped treat Bridgette was also able to watch Shelton’s performance. <\/p>\n

Needless to say, there were some teary eyes in the room\u2014and some smiles behind the masks. <\/p>\n
