The music icon and founding father of Rock &#8216;n&#8217; Roll was 87 years old.<\/p>\n<p>Known for his incredibly popular hits like &#8220;Tutti-Frutti,&#8221; &#8220;Long Tall Sally,&#8221; &#8220;All Around the World&#8221; and &#8220;Ready Teddy&#8221; (to name a few), his decades-long career has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thedailybeast.com\/little-richards-raw-sexiness-inspired-the-beatles-david-bowie-and-prince?source=articles&amp;via=rss\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">inspired and influenced many artists<\/a>, including some of the biggest: <strong>The Beatles<\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/prince\">Prince<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/david_bowie\">David Bowie<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Little Richard&#8217;s bass guitarist, <strong>Charles Glenn<\/strong>, told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2020\/05\/09\/little-richard-dead-died-87-rock-music\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">TMZ<\/a> that the music legend had been sick for nearly two months, but&nbsp;it&#8217;s unclear what he was sick from and if that&#8217;s what caused his death.<\/p>\n<p>Moreover, Glenn told the outlet Little Richard&nbsp;passed away in his Tennessee home and was surrounded by his loved ones, which included his brother, sister and son.<\/p>\n<p>The bass guitarist&nbsp;claimed to have spoken to the late star on March 27, with Little Richard asking him to visit him. However, Glenn said due to the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/coronavirus\">Coronavirus<\/a><\/strong> pandemic, he wasn&#8217;t able to.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-2\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"57\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"4\">\n<p>Since news broke of the rock icon&#8217;s death, many celebrities and fans have taken to social media to share their heartbreak.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-4\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"68.89751552795\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"33.260869565217\">\n<p>&#8220;Sadly, Little Richard passed away today. A founding Father of Rock And Roll, his contributions simply can&#8217;t be overstated,&#8221; <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/gene_simmons\">Gene Simmons<\/a><\/strong> wrote on <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/genesimmons\/status\/1259139904061075456\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter<\/a>. &#8220;I had the honor of meeting Richard in his later years and was awed by his presence. He told me, &#8220;I am the architect of Rock And Roll.&#8221; Amen! ..Rest In Peace.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Juicy J<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/therealjuicyj\/status\/1259133506191409152\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">shared<\/a>, &#8220;R.I.P. Rock &amp; Roll Legend Little Richard.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;God Bless Little Richard,&#8221; <strong>Roy Orbison<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ROYORBISON\/status\/1259136204764852226\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">said<\/a>, alongside a throwback pic of him and the late music star. &#8220;The great Rock &#8216;N&#8217; Roll Hero has died today. Earth&#8217;s loss. Heaven&#8217;s Gain.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/bette_midler\">Bette Midler<\/a><\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BetteMidler\/status\/1259137691230273537\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">expressed<\/a> her sadness over the news.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;#LittleRichard was a genius, pure and simple.
