It’s a first for American Idol<\/em>: A remote finale.<\/p>\n

On Sunday, May 17, American Idol<\/em> will wrap up its season 18 (third season on ABC) with a live remote finale featuring the return of American Idol<\/em> veterans, Cynthia Erivo<\/strong>, the Rascal Flatts<\/strong> and more.<\/p>\n

After the Top 5 reveal, the contestants will perform two songs: the first to celebrate their Top 5 placement, the second a previously performed song and their new official American Idol<\/em> single. Before the real-time vote to determine the winner, Lionel Richie<\/strong> will perform “We are the World” with Katy Perry<\/a><\/strong>, Luke Bryant<\/strong> and past American Idol<\/em> contestants including Alejandro Aranda<\/strong> aka Scarypoolparty<\/strong>, Gabby Barrett<\/strong>, Jordin Sparks<\/a><\/strong>, Katharine McPhee<\/strong>, Kellie Pickler<\/a><\/strong>, Laine Hardy<\/strong>, Lauren Alaina<\/strong>, Phillip Phillips<\/strong>, Ruben Studdard<\/strong> and Scotty McCreery<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

Luke Bryan to perform his new single “One Margarita.”

The Top 7 contestants are: Arthur Gunn<\/strong>, Dillon James<\/strong>, Francisco Martin<\/strong>, Jonny West<\/strong>, Julia Gargano<\/strong>, Just Sam<\/strong> and Louis Knight<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

After production was halted due to the spread of the coronavirus, American Idol<\/em> sent the Top 21 home and eventually resumed production with remote-shot shows on April 26.<\/p>\n

The American Idol<\/em> finale airs Sunday, May 17 at 8 p.m. on ABC.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n
