American Idol<\/em> continues its second life on ABC. Ahead of the season three finale, ABC announced the singing competition series will return for a fourth season. But something was missing from the announcement: who’s returning?<\/p>\n

Katy Perry<\/a><\/strong>, Lionel Richie<\/strong> and Luke Bryan<\/a><\/strong> have served as the judging panel for all three seasons. Longtime host Ryan Seacrest<\/a><\/strong> picked up the duties once again for the revival on ABC. Bobby Bones<\/strong> served as mentor.<\/p>\n

American Idol<\/em> is no stranger to judging shakeups. During its first 15 seasons on Fox, the panel included Paula Abdul<\/a><\/strong>, Simon Cowell<\/a><\/strong>, Randy Jackson<\/a><\/strong>, Kara DioGuardi<\/a><\/strong>, Ellen DeGeneres<\/a><\/strong>, Jennifer Lopez<\/a><\/strong>, Mariah Carey<\/a><\/strong>, Nicki Minaj<\/a><\/strong> and Keith Urban<\/a><\/strong> at various points. Seacrest has hosted the series since the start of the series in 2002.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

In the season three finale, which will be done remotely due to the coronavirus, Cynthia Erivo<\/strong> will perform a medley of Aretha Franklin songs with the Top 11, Lauren Daigle<\/strong> will perform with the Top 5, Rascal Flatts<\/strong> and Doug Kiker<\/strong> will perform, Bryan will perform his new single “One Margarita” and Perry will perform her new single “Daises.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

Additionally, Richie will lead a new performance of “We Are the World” with Bryan, Perry the Top 11 contestants and American Idol veterans including Alejandro Aranda<\/strong> aka Scarypoolparty, Fantasia<\/strong>, Gabby Barrett<\/strong>, Jordin Sparks<\/a><\/strong>, Katharine McPhee<\/strong>, Kellie Pickler<\/a><\/strong>, Laine Hardy<\/strong>, Lauren Alaina<\/strong>, Phillip Phillips<\/strong>, Ruben Studdard<\/strong> and Scotty McCreery<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

The two-hour American Idol<\/em> season three (or season 18) finale airs Sunday, May 17 at 8 p.m. on ABC.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n
