Switching over to roman numerals, the parents agreed to&nbsp;spell his name,&nbsp;<strong>X \u00c6 A-Xii<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>In a new profile by&nbsp;<em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2020-05-28\/grimes-art-project-pop-star-sells-a-piece-of-her-soul\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Bloomberg<\/a><\/em>, the &#8220;Genesis&#8221; singer revealed her nickname for her newborn, &#8220;Little X.&#8221; The cute moniker is much simpler than his birth name, which Grimes and Musk have broken down.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;X, the unknown variable,&#8221; Grimes explained on Twitter. &#8220;\u00c6, my elven spelling of Ai (love &amp;\/or Artificial intelligence) A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defenses, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Grimes continued, &#8220;A=Archangel, my favorite song&#8221; with an accompanying a rat and sword emoji. &#8220;Metal rat.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Musk later clarified that she was actually referencing an SR-71, a Lockheed aircraft operated by NASA and the United States Air Force.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-2\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"68.682266009852\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"31.699507389163\">\n<p>But the couple hasn&#8217;t exactly seen eye to eye on the precise pronunciation of their child&#8217;s name. In an Instagram comment, Grimes explained to a curious fan that the child&#8217;s name is pronounced, saying, &#8220;it&#8217;s just X, like the letter X. Then A.I. Like how you said the letter A then I.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>However, during a recent appearance on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=MU5dkX5-lVM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><em>The Joe Rogan Experience<\/em> podcast<\/a>, Musk had his own take on the name.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;How do you say the name?&#8221; <strong>Joe Rogan<\/strong> asked. &#8220;Is it a placeholder?&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;First of all, my partner is the one who mostly came up with the name,&#8221; Musk said after a chuckle. &#8220;She&#8217;s great with names. So, I mean, it&#8217;s just X, the letter X, and then the \u00c6 is pronounced Ash. Through a legal document, called &#8220;Selling Out,&#8221; of course.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The deeper we got with it, the more philosophically interesting it became,&#8221; Grimes told <em>Bloomberg<\/em>. &#8220;Also, I really wanted to collaborate with my lawyer on art.
