The @SecretService handled them easily. Tonight, I understand, is MAGA NIGHT AT THE WHITE HOUSE???&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>As of Saturday afternoon, protests continue to erupt in cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, Minneapolis, Atlanta and New York, among others.&nbsp;Many&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1156273\/lebron-james-justin-bieber-and-more-stars-speak-out-about-george-floyd-s-death\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">celebrities have also taken to social media to speak out about Floyd&#8217;s murder<\/a> at the hands of a white officer, Derek Chauvin\u2014as well as the systemic oppression Black people face in this country every day.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-2\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"50.725920679887\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"12.174220963173\">\n<p>Other celebrities on social media have continuously shared and urged their followers to donate to the <a href=\"https:\/\/minnesotafreedomfund.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Minnesota Freedom Fund<\/a>\u2014a nonprofit that helps pay bail for individuals who don&#8217;t have the financial means to do so.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/steve_carell\">Steve Carell<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/SteveCarell\/status\/1266064476303810560\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">retweeted<\/a> <strong>Ben Schwartz&nbsp;<\/strong>and matched his donation. Both of their tweets and donations were part of a larger chain that included&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/seth_rogen\">Seth Rogen<\/a><\/strong> among others. While it looks like the initial donation that was to be <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/NadxiNieto\/status\/1265979574548127744\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">matched was of $50<\/a>, Rogen replied to his own tweet adding that he then donated &#8220;much more.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In another Twitter chain, rapper&nbsp;<strong>Noname<\/strong> shared that she donated <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/noname\/status\/1266031250222886914\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">$1,000 to the Minnesota Freedom Fund on Thursday<\/a>.&nbsp;The rapper was matched by actress <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/janelle_monae\">Janelle Mon\u00e1e<\/a><\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"socialcontent-twitter-3\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" data-type=\"async\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"40.32\">\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" readability=\"3.6\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\" xml:lang=\"en\">Just matched you . \ud83e\udd1c\ud83c\udffe\ud83e\udd1b\ud83c\udffe <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/lp0ZtdRvTX\">https:\/\/t.co\/lp0ZtdRvTX<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Janelle Mon\u00e1e, Cindi Mayweather (@JanelleMonae) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JanelleMonae\/status\/1266133157708853249?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">May 28, 2020<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-4\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"56.593596059113\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"20.960591133005\">\n<p><strong>Kehlani<\/strong> also matched Noname&#8217;s donation and gave <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Kehlani\/status\/1266104770751684608\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">$1,000 to bail out protestors<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>On Instagram, she&#8217;s been vocal amid the ongoing protests and demonstrations. &#8220;this has been going on since the beginning of protest history,&#8221; <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/CAx4RBqnrX0\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">she wrote on social media<\/a>. &#8220;undercover cops, calculated white supremicists, starting up the destruction of black owned and minority businesses during peaceful protests to angle the lens on the movements negatively. anything to make it seem animalistic.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>She added, &#8220;anything to make it seem like protesters have forgotten what they are fighting for. pushing for a CIVIL WAR. this is backed up with facts from nearly EVERY MAJOR MOVEMENT in our lifetime. stay out of Black peoples comments with the accusatory trash. wake the fuck up and stop coddling EVIL. this is the world we have always lived in.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>People can also donate to other nonprofits like&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/secure.givelively.org\/donate\/the-bail-project\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Bail Project<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/brooklynbailfund.org\/donation-form\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Brooklyn Community Bail Fund<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/actionnetwork.org\/groups\/atlanta-solidarity-fund\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Atlanta Solidarity Fund<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.phillybailfund.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Philadelphia Bail Fund<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.paypal.me\/columbusfreedomfund\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Columbus Freedom Fund<\/a>, to name a few.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"video-int-txt-5\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"42\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-video-text\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"24\">\n<p>An official memorial fund for Floyd has also been shared on GoFundMe, which was set up by his sister Philonise Floyd.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;On May 25, 2020, my life shattered as I learned of the tragic passing of my dear brother, George,&#8221; Floyd&#8217;s sister writes. &#8220;My family and I watched in absolute horror as the now infamous and horrifying video began to spread quickly throughout social media. What we saw on that tape left us shell shocked; a white Minneapolis police officer kneeling directly on my brother&#8217;s neck, obstructing his ability to breathe. As some officers knelt on his neck, other officers participated and watched; no one took any action to save my brother&#8217;s life. Those officers would continue to brutalize my brother until he died.
