Ashton Kutcher<\/a><\/strong> has an important message.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday, the That \u201870s Show<\/em> alum took to Instagram with a tearful plea<\/a> aimed toward his followers that commented “All Lives Matter” on a recent post. Addressing fans in a video captioned, “#Blm vs #Alm understanding why saying \u2018all lives matter’ is missing the point,” he explained why the phrase is being misused in the larger conversation of race<\/a>. <\/p>\n

“So, on Saturday, I posted a black out of my social media channels and just posted \u2018BLM’ and a lot of folks responded, \u2018All Lives Matter,'” his video began. “And, I want to talk about that a little bit because I don’t think the people that are posting \u2018All Lives Matter’ should be canceled. I think they should be educated.”<\/p>\n

As he continued, Kutcher explained that an exchange between him, his wife Mila Kunis<\/a><\/strong> and their two children Wyatt<\/strong>, 5, and Dimitri<\/strong>, 3, inspired him to speak out.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

“We all agree all lives matter. But I had a really poignant experience tonight when I was putting my kids down to bed that lent the words for why black lives matter,” he shared. “So, usually Mila and I put our kids to bed and we read them a book and our daughter always gets to go first.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

“And tonight, as we were reading her book, my son says, \u2018Wait, why don’t I get to go first?’ And Mila said, \u2018Because girls go first,'” he continued. “And he said, \u2018Yeah, but boys go first.’ And I looked at him and I said, \u2018No, girls go first.’ And I said, \u2018You know why girls go first? For you and me, girls go first. And the reason why is, for some boys, girls don’t get a go at all. And so for you and me, girls go first.'”<\/p>\n

Concluding his message on an empowering note, The Ranch<\/em> star stressed why it’s important to him to stand in solidarity with the black community. <\/p>\n

“So when it comes to Black Lives Matter, I think what folks that are writing \u2018All Lives Matter’ need to understand is that for some people\u2026black lives don’t matter at all,” he said as he began to hold back tears. “So for us, black lives matter. So, while you may have the best intentions in saying, \u2018All Lives Matter,’ remember: For some people, black lives don’t matter at all.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

Kutcher’s video received an outpouring of support. Scooter Braun<\/a><\/strong> commented, “Well said,” followed by Evan Ross<\/a><\/strong>, who wrote, “Thank u for this. Im with u like ur with all of us.”<\/p>\n

Applauding his post, one fan commented, “Bless your soul ! So powerful and inspiring love you and M.” Another chimed in, writing, “THANK YOU FOR USING YOUR PLATFORM TO EDUCATE PEOPLE AND BEING VULNERABLE. YOU ARE HEARD. YOU ARE SEEN. YOU ARE APPRECIATED. THANK YOU!”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

“E! stands in solidarity with the black community against systemic racism and oppression experienced every day in America,” the network said in a statement<\/a> on May 31. “We owe it to our black staff, talent, production partners and viewers to demand change and accountability. To be silent is to be complicit. #BlackLivesMatter.”<\/em><\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n
