{"id":293237,"date":"2020-06-05T13:34:59","date_gmt":"2020-06-05T19:34:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/b1158958"},"modified":"2020-06-05T13:34:59","modified_gmt":"2020-06-05T19:34:59","slug":"rachel-lindsay-sounds-off-on-drew-brees-apology-hannah-brown-more","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kidn\/music-news\/rachel-lindsay-sounds-off-on-drew-brees-apology-hannah-brown-more\/","title":{"rendered":"Rachel Lindsay Sounds Off on Drew Brees&#8217; Apology, Hannah Brown &amp; More"},"content":{"rendered":"<div id=\"video-int-txt-0\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"45.549374130737\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-video-text\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"36.43949930459\">\n<p>Actions speak louder than words.<\/p>\n<p>On Friday, former <em>Bachelorette<\/em> <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/rachel_lindsay\">Rachel Lindsay<\/a><\/strong> virtually stopped by <em>Daily Pop<\/em> and shared with&nbsp;E!&#8217;s <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/nina_parker\">Nina Parker<\/a><\/strong> her thoughts on <strong>Drew Brees<\/strong>&#8216; apology, whether she&#8217;s heard from <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/hannah_brown\">Hannah Brown<\/a><\/strong>&nbsp;since her N-word controversy and more.<\/p>\n<p>On Wednesday, during an interview with <em>Yahoo Finance<\/em>, the Saints quarterback was asked to revisit&nbsp;<strong>Colin Kaepernick<\/strong>&#8216;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/898364\/beyonce-surprises-colin-kaepernick-with-sports-illustrated-s-muhammad-ali-legacy-award?query=colin%20kaepernick\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">peaceful protest against police brutality<\/a> in 2016. During the discussion, Drew said he &#8220;will never agree with anybody disrespecting the flag of the United States of America or our country.&#8221; This comment <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1158452\/lebron-james-aaron-rodgers-and-more-athletes-slam-drew-brees-for-national-anthem-remarks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">sparked backlash for Drew<\/a>, including criticism from fellow athletes <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/lebron_james\">LeBron James<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/aaron_rodgers\">Aaron Rodgers<\/a><\/strong>, <strong>Devin McCourty<\/strong> and <strong>Jason McCourty<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>By Thursday, Drew apologized on social media.<\/p>\n<p>Although Rachel said she wouldn&#8217;t criticize&nbsp;Drew&#8217;s sincerity, she did have a few things to say about&nbsp;the execution of the apology.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;m not one to critique someone&#8217;s apology as far as the sincerity of it,&#8221; Rachel relayed. &#8220;But I think if you look at the totality of what he&#8217;s said, back from when Kaepernick first took a knee four years ago to what he said yesterday to what he said now, I think he&#8217;s kind of shown who he is at this point.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, Rachel noted that she isn&#8217;t &#8220;a fan of you apologizing through words.&#8221; Following his remarks, the NFL star took to Instagram and shared a written apology alongside a picture of a black person and a white person holding hands.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-2\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"69.895228215768\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"31.502074688797\">\n<p>&#8220;I&#8217;ve also been told that the photo that he used on Instagram was a stock photo and that he had words,&#8221; she continued. &#8220;So, to me, did you say this? I can&#8217;t tell, I need for you to apologize to me in the same format that you said the original comments in.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Drew has since issued another apology on Instagram, this time on camera.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the timing of the apology, Rachel theorized that the backlash inspired the public mea culpa.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Four years ago, no one was fighting for Black Lives Matter except for black people. Now, it&#8217;s just water across the board,&#8221; Rachel added. &#8220;So, you&#8217;ve got LeBron James speaking out, you&#8217;ve got your teammates speaking out and you have to play with these individuals.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Even though Drew&#8217;s team called a meeting to address the issue, Rachel said the professional quarterback &#8220;showed his hand.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Speaking of public apologies, Rachel opened up about the guidance she gave fellow <em>Bachelorette<\/em> Hannah Brown after the latter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1158826\/hannah-brown-tells-fans-they-should-not-defend-her-after-n-word-controversy\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">used the N-word<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-4\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"63.242337164751\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"26.388888888889\">\n<p>Back in May, the <em>Bachelor<\/em> alum faced backlash after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1153223\/hannah-brown-feels-embarrassed-after-receiving-backlash-for-saying-the-n-word\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">saying the N-word<\/a> during an Instagram Live where she recited the lyrics to <strong>DaBaby<\/strong>&#8216;s song, &#8220;Rockstar.&#8221;&nbsp;Amid the controversy, Rachel\u2014who is the first and only black lead of the ABC franchise\u2014publicly criticized Hannah&#8217;s actions and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1155587\/rachel-lindsay-breaks-down-the-conversation-she-had-with-hannah-brown-regarding-the-n-word\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">reached out to the former Miss Alabama<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I was not a fan of the way she initially apologized, I wanted her to speak out on camera, which she did,&#8221; Rachel expressed. &#8220;And I&#8217;m not gonna take away from that apology. She seemed very sincere, she seemed like she was willing to learn and good for her.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>However, Rachel said that she has not heard from Hannah amid <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/shows\/daily_pop\/news\/1157817\/justin-sylvester-shares-protest-experience-discusses-importance-of-black-lives-matter-with-nina-parker\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">the ongoing Black Lives Matter protests<\/a> following <strong>George Floyd<\/strong>&#8216;s death.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Has she reached out to me? No. And I haven&#8217;t reached out to her either,&#8221; Rachel stated. &#8220;It goes both ways. Neither of us have contacted each other. In her video, she said she hired an educator, so I guess that&#8217;s who she can reach out to, to seek knowledge in regards to this subject if she&#8217;s trying to learn something more.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"video-int-txt-5\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"39.5\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-video-text\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"19\">\n<p>As the interview continued, Nina asked Rachel to shed light on any interracial couple conversations&nbsp;she&#8217;s had with&nbsp;husband <strong>Bryan Abasolo<\/strong>.
