A rockslide between Cortez and Telluride closed Colorado 145 on Friday, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation.

The slide, about 12 miles north of Dolores, has closed the highway indefinitely, CDOT said in a news release.

Rocks, dirt and two giant boulders, one as big as a house, destroyed the full width of the road, leaving an 8-foot trench across both lanes and making the section impassable, CDOT said.

At least one boulder will need to be blasted as part of the cleanup effort. It was unclear when the highway will reopen.
