The importance of public lands to our state\u2019s economy and way of life will be shared, with an opportunity to join in on stewardship projects, outdoor adventures and free events statewide.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Colorado Public Lands Day is an annual opportunity to give back to our varied public landscapes, celebrate our state\u2019s heritage, recognize our unique and diverse history, and bring people from all Colorado communities together to enjoy our public lands.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cA recent poll from Colorado College shows that over 70% of Coloradans say the ability to enjoy public lands is a significant reason why they live in the West,\u201d said CPW education, partnerships and volunteer manager Jennifer Anderson. \u201cOur public lands give us the opportunity for fishing, camping, hunting, hiking and so much more; Colorado Public Lands Day gives all of us a chance to show our support for these places we love.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Colorado was the first state in the nation to establish its own public lands day in 2016. The holiday is recognized annually on the third Saturday of May, and celebrates the significant contributions that national, state and local public lands within Colorado make to wildlife, outdoor recreation, the economy, and to Coloradans\u2019 quality of life.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">In addition to state park events, many additional local and federal agency events and volunteer opportunities are posted at COPublicLandsDay.com.
