Illustration<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"photo-txt-0\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"41.0256\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-photo-text\" readability=\"23.4432\">\n<p>From the start <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/pippa_middleton\">Pippa Middleton<\/a><\/strong> had been training her 6-month-old son, <strong>Arthur Michael William Matthews<\/strong>, to take to&nbsp;the pool like a duck does to, well, any type of water, really.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Having learned last spring she was&nbsp;to welcome her first child with husband <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/james_matthews\">James Matthews<\/a><\/strong>, the author transitioned away from her normally grueling running and biking routines in favor of&nbsp;swimming sessions. &#8220;From personal experience, I&#8217;d confidently say I find it has been the most enjoyable and rewarding form of exercise since I found I was expecting,&#8221; she shared in her regular column for U.K. supermarket monthly <em>Waitrose Kitchen<\/em> magazine. &#8220;It&#8217;s comforting to know that it&#8217;s safe throughout pregnancy, and you don&#8217;t need to adapt and change too much (unlike most other sports). It&#8217;s so good for you that you could swim every day\u2014as long as you don&#8217;t overexert yourself\u2014right up until the end of the third trimester.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>She has since dove back in, this time with a tiny plus-one at her side. She credits introducing Arthur to the sport at just 4-months-old with giving him confidence around water as well as improved digestion and satisfyingly sound nap times, calling it &#8220;a great form of exercise you can do with your baby&#8221; and &#8220;one of our favorite activities.&#8221;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-2\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"64.804189435337\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"22.413479052823\">\n<p>Which pretty much tracks, considering how swimmingly the rest of her life is going. While older sister <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/kate_middleton\">Kate Middleton<\/a><\/strong> set forth her future as a real live princess (yes, her official descriptor is Duchess of Cambridge, but one day she&#8217;ll be Queen Consort and in the meantime she gets to wear a tiara on the regular) circa freshman year of college when she made friends with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/prince_william\">Prince William<\/a><\/strong> at Scotland&#8217;s University of St Andrews, Pippa&#8217;s life has been no less charmed.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Thanks to her 2017 wedding to Matthews\u2014the new parents celebrate their second anniversary today\u2014the 35-year-old&nbsp;lives in a palace of sorts (a $22 million, five-story townhouse in London&#8217;s ritzy Chelsea neighborhood, recently renovated to include an in-home gym, underground movie theater and his-and-hers dressing rooms), has access to her own reported multi-billion-dollar fortune and will one day inherit a title of her own,&nbsp;when hedge fund manager Matthews, 43, is named Laird of Glen Affric, a distinction&nbsp;currently held by his father. (He and his Lady will also lay claim to the family&#8217;s 10,000-acre Scottish estate.)<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"photo-txt-3\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"40.701069518717\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-photo-text\" readability=\"22.557219251337\">\n<p>Perhaps best of all for Pippa, who&#8217;s admitted to being overwhelmed by the attention she gained simply for cutting a shapely figure in the&nbsp;Alexander McQueen sheath&nbsp; originally intended&nbsp;to fade into the background, she gets to enjoy it all while flying, if not exactly under-the-radar, certainly maintaining a lower profile than her big sis. As a <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/royals\/engaged-pippa-middleton-wants-children-and-a-quiet-life-source\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">source told <em>People<\/em><\/a>, the couple&nbsp;share &#8220;a deep desire&#8221; to shirk the spotlight, hoping to just&nbsp;settle down, have children and begin &#8220;leading a quiet life.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Living fully out loud ultimately just didn&#8217;t suit her. &#8220;It&#8217;s a bit startling to achieve global recognition (if that&#8217;s the right word) before the age of 30, on account of your sister, your brother-in-law and your bottom,&#8221;&nbsp;the English literature grad&nbsp;wrote in her&nbsp;debut book, 2012&#8217;s&nbsp;<em>Celebrate: A year of Festivities for Families and Friends<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Even more jarring to face near-constant scrutiny about every single choice you make.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"photo-txt-4\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"42.392105263158\">\n<div class=\"column post-content__image--left post-content__image\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"32\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image--full\" src=\"https:\/\/akns-images.eonline.com\/eol_images\/Entire_Site\/2018526\/rs_634x1024-180626103355-634.Pippa-Middleton-Pregnancy-Style.jpg?fit=inside|900:auto&amp;output-quality=90\" title=\"ESC: Pippa Middleton, Pregnancy Style\" alt=\"ESC: Pippa Middleton, Pregnancy Style\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"image__credits\">Bertrand Rindoff Petroff\/Pierre Suu\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-photo-text\" readability=\"25.66361136572\">\n<p>No sooner had media outlets and fans began praising her sartorial choices, they were ready to trash them, some papers&nbsp;comparing her ensembles to potato sacks&nbsp;and inquiring if she&#8217;d &#8220;dressed in the dark.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Their jabs left Pippa gutted, she admitted. &#8220;I have felt publicly bullied a little bit,&#8221;&nbsp;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/555491\/pippa-middleton-talks-about-being-publicly-bullied-and-that-insignificant-maid-of-honor-dress\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">she told Matt Lauer<\/a>&nbsp;during a 2014 <em>Today<\/em> appearance. &#8220;Because eventually I&#8217;m just paving my way and trying to live a life.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>But the&nbsp;overwhelming opinion from those watching from afar was that she wasn&#8217;t making enough of said existence, her previous work as an event planner for family business Party Pieces, six-figure book deals and pieces for the likes of&nbsp;<em>Vanity Fair<\/em>&nbsp;to&nbsp;<em>The Spectator Magazine<\/em>,&nbsp;riffing on everything from her&nbsp;and Kate&#8217;s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/news\/2013\/06\/pippa-middleton-columnist-tennis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">love of tennis<\/a>&nbsp;to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.spectator.co.uk\/2014\/12\/pippa-middleton-on-wine-fishing-and-kim-kardashian\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Kim Kardashian&#8217;s rear<\/a>, combined with numerous charitable endeavors failing to impress.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;People see me as someone privileged who has used my position to advantage; that I don&#8217;t really work, that I am a socialite\u2014that word really irritates me\u2014and that I&#8217;m a party girl without any substance,&#8221; she griped to the&nbsp;<em>Daily Mail<\/em>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"block-5-img\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"31\">\n<div class=\"post-content__image\" readability=\"32\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"image--full\" src=\"https:\/\/akns-images.eonline.com\/eol_images\/Entire_Site\/2016618\/rs_1024x759-160718151325-1024-pippa-middleton-james-matthews.jpg?fit=inside|900:auto&amp;output-quality=90\" border=\"0\" title=\"Pippa Middleton, James Matthews\" alt=\"Pippa Middleton, James Matthews\" data-width=\"1024\" data-height=\"759\"><\/p>\n<p class=\"image__credits\">Neil Warner \/ Splash News<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"photo-txt-5\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"42.021319388576\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-photo-text\" readability=\"24.718423169751\">\n<p>So she transformed herself into one of the world&#8217;s fittest philanthropists&nbsp;cycling 3,000 miles across the United States and then swimming the four miles&nbsp;that make up the&nbsp;Istanbul Strait to raise funds for the British Heart Foundation and climbing some 33 miles of glacier for&nbsp;UK&#8217;s National Skier&#8217;s and Boarder&#8217;s Charity Disability Snowsport. (In 2016, she also penned a second book,&nbsp;<em>Heartfelt<\/em>, with proceeds supporting the BHF.)<\/p>\n<p>And when she reconnected with Matthews in 2014, the Eton College grad she first met during a visit to his parents&#8217; tony Eden Rock resort on the Caribbean island of St Barts in 2006 and dated briefly six years later, she did her best to enjoy the new romance despite the ongoing press attention, an inconvenience <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/femail\/article-3795458\/I-m-not-party-girl-people-think-PIPPA-MIDDLETON-S-major-interview-wooing-fiance-trials-royal-law-inspiration-new-book.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">she likened to<\/a> &#8220;just a bit of life I have to deal with.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Because the Lincolnshire-raised financier appeared every bit the prince charming she had been waiting for.&nbsp;The reunited pair were quite the match made in adventurer&#8217;s heaven&nbsp;with Matthews an ultra-marathoner who completed the six-day, 156-mile Marathon des Sables in the Sahara Desert and Norway&#8217;s Birkebeiner, the world&#8217;s longest cross-country ski race.&nbsp;And like his bride, he had carved out quite the successful career for himself.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-7\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"62.832589285714\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"20.944196428571\">\n<p>Skipping university, he initially opted for the life of a career race car driver, wining both the British Formula Renault Championship and the Formula Renault Eurocup titles in 1994. By the next year he was ready for act two, beginning a career in finance by working as a derivatives trader at Spear, Leeds &amp; Kellogg, now a part of Goldman Sachs.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>With six years of desk work under his well-cut suit, he was ready to branch out on his own, founding Eden Rock Capital Management Group in 2001, for which he still serves as chief exec. While speaking about finances is not the done thing in the circles he and Pippa move through, experts estimate his fortune as hovering somewhere near $2.6 billion, more than enough to bankroll fanciful trips, like the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/857620\/pippa-middleton-and-james-matthews-honeymoon-in-paradise\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">round-the-world honeymoon<\/a> adventure he and Pippa enjoyed in 2017, their Italian babymoon and&nbsp;jaunts out to Mom and Dad&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1001089\/pippa-middleton-bares-her-abs-in-a-bikini-2-months-after-giving-birth\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">place in St. Barts<\/a>.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"photo-txt-8\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"43.612903225806\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-photo-text\" readability=\"29.714285714286\">\n<p>That&#8217;s where the two were spotted in January, Pippa somehow already back in a bikini, just one of a smattering of sightings since they welcomed their first born in October.<\/p>\n<p>Pippa was also seen making an appearance in Temperley London&nbsp;at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.eonline.com\/news\/1019251\/pippa-middleton-looks-chic-in-first-official-appearance-since-giving-birth\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">February&#8217;s&nbsp;Beating Hearts Ball<\/a>, an event that supports her favorite charity, The British Heart Foundation, for which she&#8217;s served as ambassador since 2014.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Other than that, the twosome do what they can to remain incognito in their upscale neighborhood, preferring dinner parties at their six-bedroom home to splashy nights out. &#8220;<span>I have had a few years of being in the public eye and I have developed something of a thick skin,&#8221; she <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/femail\/article-3795458\/I-m-not-party-girl-people-think-PIPPA-MIDDLETON-S-major-interview-wooing-fiance-trials-royal-law-inspiration-new-book.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">noted to <em>The Daily Mail<\/em><\/a> in 2016. &#8220;But managing it all on my own has been quite hard. I have quite a lot thrown at me, such as being followed by people hiding behind cars and jumping out with cameras.
