The letter states, “So it goes back to a problem many of us see all of the time. Poop bags being left along trails, trailheads, roads, recreation paths, etc. Those bags continue to accumulate and add more unsightly trash to the land. It is a pathetic and emerging problem around Breckenridge, Summit County, the state and nation. Who is supposed to pick up those bags? It’s not the job of the Summit Daily News nor anyone else who isn’t the pet owner. The Poop Fairy is dead people! So dear pet owners — please carry away your poop bags! Thank you.”

If the town has a poop pickup event, then the message will be given that the Poop Fairy is not dead but alive and well to pick up after you. So go ahead and leave your poop bags all over town and on trails because someone will pick up after you. That is sending the wrong message. Rather than pick up after those people, wouldn’t it better to have a campaign to promote good stewardship and, albeit difficult, some type of enforcement such as fines? So please forgo the poop pickup event, and in its place, begin promoting good stewardship.

Sorry Summit singles — you will have to get creative and think of something else for a first date.

Doug Trieste

Breckenridge

via:: Summit Daily

The Summit Daily News article “Breck urges responsible dog ownership with ‘Doody-Free Breck’ campaign,” published May 12 states, “the town will have a poop pickup event where volunteers can help clean up trails by collecting dog poop left on them.” Other than a perfect first date for Summit singles as mentioned, is that really a […]

[97

0":"post-24720","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-local-news
"publishpress_future_workflow_manual_trigger":
["GET
