Champ James Holzhauer Ends Winning Streak"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/akns-images.eonline.com\/eol_images\/Entire_Site\/201953\/rs_600x600-190603170015-600x600.jeopardy-james-holzhauer-lp.6319.jpg?fit=around|600:467&amp;crop=600:467;center,top&amp;output-quality=90\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"photo-txt-0\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"40.5\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-photo-text\" readability=\"21\">\n<p>All good things come to an end, which was the case for <strong>James Holzhauer<\/strong> on <em>Jeopardy!<\/em> tonight.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After 32 wins and $2,462,216 in prize money,&nbsp;the professional sports gambler&nbsp;lost on Monday to Emma Boettcher, just $60,000 short of Ken Jennings&#8217; record.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Emma dominated her warmup games that day, and I knew she would make an extremely tough challenger,&#8221; Holzhauer said in a statement. &#8220;I was still incredibly impressed by her courage on that &#8216;True Daily Double.&#8217; I&#8217;m proud that it took a top-level player at her absolute best to eliminated me.&#8221;&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Holzhauer held on for so long due to his strategy of betting big on the higher valued clues, and he will return to <em>Jeopardy!<\/em> in season 36 for the Tournament of Champions.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-2\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"62\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"14\">\n<p>Holzhauer is now the second most winning Jeopardy! contestant of all time, behind Jennings, who won 74 games in a row and accumulated $2,520,700 in prize money.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I never really believed I could win 75 shows, but I definitely thought I had a great shot at Ken&#8217;s cash winnings record,&#8221; Holzhauer said.<\/p>\n<p>You can watch the Final Jeopardy that took Holzhauer out of the game below.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"text-4\" data-hook=\"scrollable-block\" readability=\"61.200201207243\">\n<section data-textblock-tracking=\"text-block-text-only\" data-swiftype-index=\"false\" readability=\"16.38430583501\">\n<p>The new champion Emma Boettcher is a user experience librarian from Chicago, and she won the episode with $46,801 to Holzhauer&#8217;s $24,799.<\/p>\n<p>Holzhauer&#8217;s loss was spoiled earlier today by leaked footage, and then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2019\/06\/03\/arts\/television\/james-holzhauer-jeopardy.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The New York Times<\/a>&nbsp;confirmed it with an interview with James.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Nobody likes to lose,&#8221; he said in the interview. &#8220;But I&#8217;m very proud of how I did, and I really exceeded my own expectations for the show.
