Vanessa Hudgens<\/a><\/strong> is returning to her music roots, sort of.<\/p>\n

The High School Musical<\/em> star, who also showcases her musical performance skills in Grease: Live<\/em> and Rent: Live<\/a>, is set to lead a staged reading of Ingrid Michaelson<\/strong> and Bekah Brunstetter<\/strong>‘s musical adaptation of the 2004 romance movie The Notebook<\/em> for Vassar and New York Stage & Film’s Powerhouse Season this summer, according to multiple reports.<\/p>\n

Hudgens is reading the part of “Middle Allie,” who Rachel McAdams<\/a><\/strong> played in the movie opposite Ryan Gosling<\/a><\/strong>‘s Noah.<\/p>\n

Tony nominee and star of Broadway’s Once on This Island<\/em> Hailey Kilgore<\/strong> will appear as “Younger Allie”, while Cabaret<\/em>‘s Andy Buckley<\/strong> (Cabaret) as “Older Allie.”<\/p>\n

Clifton Duncan<\/strong> from Carmen Jones<\/em> will play “Middle Noah” to Hudgens’ Allie. Jagged Little Pill’s Antonio Cipriano <\/strong>and Tony-winning Chicago<\/em> star James Naughton<\/strong> are playing “Younger Noah” and “Older Noah.”<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

The Notebook<\/em> reading will take place at Vasser College’s Martel Theater on June 23.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

It was announced in January that The Notebook<\/em> the musical is set to head to Broadway at an undermined date. Casting has not been announced.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n
