Will TV’s biggest dramas have to bend the knee to Game of Thrones<\/em>? If the 2019 Emmy nominations<\/a> are any indication, this may be the case.<\/p>\n

Ken Jeong<\/a><\/strong> and D’Arcy Carden<\/strong> announced the nominees for this year’s award show on Tuesday, and the HBO hit swept the categories. The program secured a total of 32 nods\u2014the most for any program in a single season. In fact, it broke the record previously held by NYPD Blue<\/em>. Emilia Clarke<\/a><\/strong> was nominated in the Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series category for her role as Daenerys Targaryen and Kit Harington<\/a><\/strong> received a nod in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category for his role as Jon Snow. The show was also nominated for Outstanding Drama Series.<\/p>\n

Of course, this should come as no surprise to the show’s fans. Over the course of its eight-season run, the series has received a total of 161 nominations. It’s also won 47 trophies. <\/p>\n

Then again, not everyone was satisfied with the show’s final season<\/a>. Just two months prior, HBO aired the last episode of Game of Thrones<\/em>. While some were happy with the finale, others were disappointed. Some fans even signed a petition<\/a> demanding a remake of the show’s eighth and final season.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel<\/em> and Chernobyl<\/em> followed the HBO hit with 20 and 19 nods, respectively. Saturday Night Live<\/em> also secured 18 nominations and Barry<\/em> and Fosse\/Verdon<\/em> earned 17 nods each.<\/p>\n

Fans will have to wait until the big night to see which programs take home the trophies. The 2019 Emmy Awards will air on Fox Sunday, Sept. 22 starting at 8:00 p.m. EST.<\/p>\n

Or, they could just ask the Three-Eyed Raven.<\/p>\n
