Oscar winner out, music superstar in. Janelle Mon\u00e1e<\/a><\/strong> will lead the cast of Homecoming<\/em> season two, replacing Julia Roberts<\/a><\/strong> on the Amazon drama, E! News has confirmed.<\/p>\n

Mon\u00e1e will play a tenacious woman who finds herself floating in a canoe, but she has no memory of how she got there\u2026or who she is. Amazon will announce additional information about the new season at a later date.<\/p>\n

The first season of Homecoming<\/em>, which was based on the podcast of the same name, followed Julia Roberts as Heidi Bergman, a woman who worked at Homecoming, a facility that claimed to help soldiers transition to civilian life. Only it wasn’t doing that. The facility was experimenting on the veterans, taking away their traumatic memories so they could return to service.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

Bobby Cannavale<\/a><\/strong>, Stephan James<\/strong>, Shea Whigham<\/strong>, Alex Karpovsky<\/strong>, Sissy Spacek<\/strong>, Marianne Jean-Baptiste<\/strong> and Jeremy White<\/strong> also starred in the first season opposite Roberts.<\/p>\n

Mr. Robot<\/em>‘s Sam Esmail<\/strong> is back as executive producer. Roberts will also return as executive producer. Chad Hamilton<\/strong>, Eli Horowitz<\/strong>, Micha Bloomberg<\/strong>, Chris Giliberti<\/strong>, Alex Blumberg<\/strong> and Matt Lieber<\/strong> round out the executive producing team.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n

While primarily known as a Gammy-nominated singer and songwriter, Mon\u00e1e has quite an extensive acting resume. In addition to the upcoming Harriet<\/em>, Lady and the Tramp<\/em> and The Glorias: A Life on the Road<\/em>, Mon\u00e1e’s acting credits include Moonlight<\/em>, Hidden Figures<\/em> and Welcome to Marwen<\/em>. Mon\u00e1e is also active off screen with the Fem the Future initiative and also serves as a co-chair of When We All Vote.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n<\/div>\n
