{"id":30207,"date":"2019-09-04T15:51:53","date_gmt":"2019-09-04T21:51:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.skyhinews.com\/?p=59885"},"modified":"2019-09-12T08:55:10","modified_gmt":"2019-09-12T14:55:10","slug":"west-grand-volleyball-whips-moffat-county-for-2nd-victory-in-two-weeks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kift\/local-news\/west-grand-volleyball-whips-moffat-county-for-2nd-victory-in-two-weeks\/","title":{"rendered":"West Grand volleyball whips Moffat County for 2nd victory in two weeks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Moffat County Bulldogs came out with a high tempo offense and hard serves during a volleyball match against West Grand on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>As a result, the Mustangs found themselves down 7-3 in the<br \/>\nfirst set before the team responded with intensity and teamwork to record their<br \/>\nsecond four-set victory in as many weeks.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was a great win for us,\u201d Coach Kim Bodemann said as<br \/>\nshe reported the game results via email. \u201cWe gained some confidence and our<br \/>\nserve receive was much better. The girls were absorbing the hard serving of<br \/>\nsome of the Moffat players. This is a good match to continue to build<br \/>\noff.\u201d&nbsp; <\/p>\n<p>Throughout the contest, the Mustangs played with confidence, made great diving saves, put up strong blocks and finished plays, the coach said. But there\u2019s still room to grow, as the Bulldogs kicked it up a notch on the Mustangs in the second set and took advantage of missed serves to keep from getting shutout.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need to eliminate our unforced errors,\u201d Bodemann said. <\/p>\n<p>During the match, West Grand senior Emma DeSanti had nine kills, 12 assists and four blocks. She was followed in kills by sophomores Alex Schake with eight and Maddy Probst with seven. <\/p>\n<p>Additionally, senior Mikayla Shearer logged six kills and four blocks while junior Josy Wheatley led the Mustangs in assists with 16. Also, freshman Sage Lechman served 16 times and was 100% from the service line.<\/p>\n<p>The support that came from the crowd was awesome too, Bodemann added.<\/p>\n<p>The victory comes on the heels of the Mustangs\u2019 Aug. 27 victory<br \/>\nover North Park at home, which the Mustangs also won in four sets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m very pleased to how they responded coming out of a long<br \/>\nweekend, showing lots of grit and desire,\u201d Coach Scott Terryberry said of the<br \/>\nteam.<\/p>\n<p>The Mustangs will play host to the West Grand Volleyball<br \/>\nTournament on Friday and Saturday, featuring Meeker, Calhan, Clear Creek, Peyton,<br \/>\nGilpin County, Cedaredge and Sanford, along with West Grand. <\/p>\n<p>The Mustangs start tournament play against Gilpin County at<br \/>\nnoon Friday. Their next scheduled match will be against Sanford at 3 p.m. Friday.&nbsp; On Saturday, the Mustangs start at 9 a.m.<br \/>\nagainst Cedaredge.<\/p>\n<p>West Grand\u2019s final game time will be determined by how they<br \/>\nfinish in their pool.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Moffat County Bulldogs came out with a high tempo offense and hard serves during a volleyball match against West Grand on Tuesday.
