SILVERTHORNE \u2014 At the Silverthorne Town Council work session Wednesday night, council members appointed Michael Spry to fill the seat that was vacated by JoAnne Nadalin, who moved out of state.<\/p>\n
Spry owns Silverthorne\u2019s Sunshine Cafe and is on the Economic Development Advisory Committee.<\/p>\n
During the interviews, council members asked applicants about their drive to become a council member and their commitment to the town. Many applicants gave their impressions of the ongoing development in Silverthorne.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe have a momentum going on in this community right now that I think absolutely needs to be continued,\u201d Spry said in his interview.<\/p>\n
Applicants also were asked about their opinions on local government regulations and prior town council decisions.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis town council and the council before years ago has been very encouraging. Whether people get the big picture or whether they agree with all aspects of the project and the proposed trajectory of the town, I think it\u2019s just important that the ship has sailed,\u201d Spry said in reference to the development of Silverthorne.<\/p>\n
\u201cI really want to be a cheerleader because there\u2019s a great story here,\u201d Spry said. \u201cSilverthorne is a great place to live, a great place to raise a family, a diverse community. \u2026 Let\u2019s absolutely make it world-class.\u201d<\/p>\n
After the interview process, town council moved forward with other items on the work session agenda before moving into executive session to discuss the candidates.<\/p>\n
Spry will be sworn in at the next meeting and will serve until the seat is up for election in April.<\/p>\n
Clinton Condict, Michael Molloy, Rob Murphy, Erin Young and Rachel Zerowin also applied for the vacancy.<\/p>\n
