I am, unabashedly, a nerd. I watch \u201cJeopardy\u201d nightly and hopped on that \u201cHQ Trivia\u201d bandwagon early on in the app\u2019s lifecycle. I like to think of myself as a perpetual student because I\u2019m in the business of asking questions and writing for a living. So it should be no surprise that I love the marriage of fermented drinks and crafty quizzes.<\/p>\n

While various bars and restaurants also have trivia, if you wish to play at one of Summit County\u2019s breweries, here\u2019s the guide for you. The monthly contest at the Dillon Dam Brewery is the only one I regularly attend since it fits my schedule the best, but I wish I could go to all of them.<\/p>\n

Angry James Brewing Co<\/strong>.

Gather up a team of six of your smartest friends for Angry James\u2019 weekly Thursday trivia. From 7\u20139 p.m., host Grant Mckay will ask four 10-question rounds to test your wits. Halfway through the match is a bonus question that isn\u2019t worth any points but rather a free flight of beer.<\/p>\n

The team that finishes the evening in first place gets a $30 gift card, second gets a $15 gift card, and third gets a gift card for a car wash.<\/p>\n

Broken Compass Brewing<\/strong>

At 7 p.m. every Tuesday, people can head to Broken Compass for four rounds of trivia with 10 questions per round asked by Reid Bartelt. Some rounds have audio or visual components and popcorn is awarded at the second round by answering number-related questions \u2014 for example, how long is the Gobi Desert? \u2014 with the closest figure. The team that comes in first place is awarded a $25 gift card while second place receives $15 and third gets $10.<\/p>\n

On the third Thursday of every month, Dillon Dam bartender Steven Agostinelli asks five rounds of tough trivia questions. A basic round of 10 questions starts the evening at 9 p.m., and its followed by audio and visual rounds before returning to the regular format. Whoever gets the most correct each round receives a card redeemable for a free pint of beer.<\/p>\n

Things heat up in the final round, when contestants are asked to list as many answers to the question they think are correct, such as naming the top 10 scoring basketball players of all time, yet any incorrect answer given results in negative points. The top three teams receive gift cards for $10, $15 and $25.<\/p>\n

Trivia can be found at HighSide Brewing at 6:30 p.m. every Wednesday. Hosted by locals Ward Malek and Brett Lomoro, teams play six rounds of general knowledge questions, including a visual round and a bonus round where points are wagered. While the top three teams expectedly receive HighSide gift cards ranging from $5-$20, a unique twist is that a free flight of beer is awarded to whoever has the best and creative team name that week.  <\/p>\n

Though not held as regular as it used to be, Outer Range Brewing Co. occasionally hosts trivia nights. They tend to be more like special themed events with various prizes to win since they don\u2019t occur weekly. Keep an eye on the brewery\u2019s social media channels to know exactly when the next game is happening.<\/p>\n
