{"id":31042,"date":"2019-09-17T16:57:00","date_gmt":"2019-09-17T22:57:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.skyhinews.com\/news\/girl-scouts-climb-the-ranks\/"},"modified":"2019-09-17T16:57:00","modified_gmt":"2019-09-17T22:57:00","slug":"girl-scouts-climb-the-ranks","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kift\/local-news\/girl-scouts-climb-the-ranks\/","title":{"rendered":"Girl Scouts climb the ranks"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">One by one, girls representing four Girl Scout troops crossed a bridge at Kaibab Park on Sunday in Granby.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The short trip, only a couple dozen steps perhaps, was a milestone in the girls\u2019 scouting careers and a signal of their growth, not just within the organization, but within the community as well.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cScary,\u201d Jael Montandon said about how it feels to be an 11-year-old Girl Scouts Cadette now. \u201cIt just tells me I\u2019m getting older.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">The bridging ceremony, as the scouts call it, honored the girls\u2019 achievements throughout the year and celebrated their ascension the next level. They\u2019re all Girl Scouts, but the different levels include Daisies, Brownies, Juniors and Cadettes, just to name a few in their order of progression.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Sunday\u2019s ceremony featured girls from troops 54036, 55318, 55319 and 55337, and the camaraderie of having them all together for one event wasn\u2019t lost on organizers because the younger girls look up to the older ones and the troops only have a couple activities throughout the year that bring them together.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Standing beside her friend Emily Neal, Jael said they both know that, as Cadettes, they\u2019ll be responsible for setting a good example for the younger girls and they\u2019re prepared to do that.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cWe always have to come prepared for anything,\u201d Neal said before she encouraged others girls to think about joining the organization. <\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">Meanwhile, Jael\u2019s mom, Heather, explained how the Girl Scouts have gotten her daughter involved in the community, helped her make friends and shown the girls that people can be good too.<\/p>\n<p class=\"STND-STND BodyText\">\u201cThe further you get along in Girl Scouts the more you know and the more you\u2019re helping in your community,\u201d Emily said of the organization, adding that her favorite service project so far had her and Jael grooming a black horse named Olive before a wedding.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One by one, girls representing four Girl Scout troops crossed a bridge at Kaibab Park on Sunday in Granby.
