Crews have already burned 438 acres in the area<br \/>\nover the past year.<\/p>\n<p>The prescribed fire is the next step in the Blue Ridge<br \/>\nSalvage and Fuels Reduction Project, meant to decrease the risk of wildfire and<br \/>\nimprove forest health in Grand County. The Blue Ridge area includes Granby, Hot<br \/>\nSulphur Springs and Fraser Valley.<\/p>\n<p>Controlled burning is done under specific environmental<br \/>\nconditions, taking things like wind speed and humidity into account, the<br \/>\nrelease said. Prescribed fires are planned and implemented by trained fire<br \/>\nmanagers who take advantage of existing firebreaks such as roads, trails and<br \/>\neven snow to keep the fire within designated areas.<\/p>\n<p>Smoke from these activities could be visible around the<br \/>\ncounty, including in Parshall, Granby and parts of Fraser Valley.
