The Kremmling Depot has received historical designation from
\nthe State Historical Fund.<\/p>\n
Historical designation for the depot allows the Grand County
\nHistorical Society to apply for funding to restore the building. The society is
\nworking to construct a permanent foundation for the depot.<\/p>\n
A foundation will allow the society to open the depot to the
\npublic and use it as an exhibit and community meeting place.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe Historic Designation by the state of Colorado is the first step in GCHA\u2019s investment into our community,\u201d said Shanna Ganne, director of the historical association. \u201cWe are thrilled to create community spaces and locations of learning while expanding heritage, culture and historical tourism in our area.\u201d<\/p>\n
The depot is located at the Heritage Park Museum complex in
\nKremmling after a group of history lovers saved the depot from demolition in
\n2008. <\/p>\n
The historical significance of the depot comes from the
\nconstruction of the Denver, Northwest and Pacific Railway. The Kremmling Depot
\nis the last surviving depot of this time and acted as the main mode of
