When the howling snowstorm moved into Summit County and surrounding areas Wednesday afternoon, it caused a mess on the roads<\/a> but beauty in the mountains with ski resorts getting several inches of fresh snow. <\/p>\n

Breckenridge Ski Resort got 9 inches of natural snow in addition to the snow made with the resort\u2019s recently fired-up snow guns<\/a>. Breckenridge plans to open Friday, Nov. 8.<\/p>\n

Keystone Resort had 7 inches of natural snow accumulation, helping out its new runs on the North Peak, which open Friday, Oct. 25<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Copper Mountain Resort is on track for the anticipated Friday, Nov. 8, opening with a fresh 5 inches out of the storm.<\/p>\n

A-Basin announced Thursday morning that the ski area had accumulated 5 inches of new snow. It also positioned snow guns on the summit in order to get the top runs open soon. On Wednesday, A-Basin Chief Operating Officer Alan Henceroth reported on Al\u2019s Blog<\/a> that the ski area has accumulated a total of 1 foot of snow over the previous four days. <\/p>\n

Loveland Ski Area is opening Friday, Oct. 25<\/a>, with three runs \u2014 Catwalk, Mambo and Home Run \u2014 that make one full top-to-bottom run. The ski area announced its opening Tuesday after receiving 10 inches of fresh snow, but after Wednesday night\u2019s storm they can now open with some extra powder.<\/p>\n

Down mountain, Vail Ski Resort reported 6 inches of new snow and announced that they have fired up their snow guns. Vail plans to open Friday, Nov. 15. Beaver Creek Resort received 9 inches and is expected to open Wednesday, Nov. 27.<\/p>\n
