The last of the six people involved in a string of Grand
\nLake burglaries has entered a plea deal.<\/p>\n
On Thursday, 29-year-old Jorge Varela pleaded guilty to misdemeanor theft between $750 and $2,000. The District Attorney dismissed a felony charge of second-degree burglary as well as all counts in his other case related to the burglaries.<\/p>\n
Varela was sentenced to two years probation and 48 hours of community service. The courts fined him just over $2,000 and restitution can be determined within 91 days.<\/p>\n
His plea deal marks the final resolution for six defendants connected to a series of burglaries in Grand Lake between 2017 and 2018. All six defendants, who were initially arrested in August 2018, entered plea deals.<\/p>\n
Earlier this month<\/a>, Colin Sabo, 44, pleaded guilty to felony aggravated theft and Candice Hewitt, 33, pleaded guilty to felony theft. Sabo\u2019s sentencing will be Dec. 5 and Hewitt\u2019s will be Nov. 7.<\/p>\n Paul Asbury, 47, pleaded guilty<\/a> to 12 misdemeanor counts of theft in May. He was sentenced to three years of unsupervised probation and ordered to complete 120 hours of community service.<\/p>\n Joushua Miles, 25, pleaded guilty<\/a> to one count of felony theft last November and was sentenced to 18 months in community corrections in January.<\/p>\n
