According to her letter of resignation, she has had<br \/>\nto divide her time between Grand Lake and Utah.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLegally, I still meet the requirements to be on the board<br \/>\nbut feel that I will not be able to represent the town to the best of my<br \/>\nability because of spending time between our two homes,\u201d Price said in the<br \/>\nletter.<\/p>\n<p>Price went on to say that she plans to continue to be<br \/>\ninvolved with the town and encouraged the board to keep up their work in Grand<br \/>\nLake.<\/p>\n<p>The town announced this resignation at the Nov. 25 board<br \/>\nmeeting.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPhyllis Price has been a valued member of our community for<br \/>\nmany years and the town will greatly miss her knowledge, energy and deep<br \/>\nconcern for the town\u2019s well being,\u201d Town Manager John Crone said in a memo to<br \/>\nthe board.<\/p>\n<p>The town board is required by state and municipal code to fill the vacancy by Jan. 17 through appointment or special election.<\/p>\n<p>As the vacant position is up for election April 7, the town manager recommended that the town appoint someone to fill the vacancy as the best course of action. While there is no requirement that the town advertises the vacancy or solicits applications, Grand Lake has traditionally taken these actions.<\/p>\n<p>The board plans to appoint the trustee at the Jan. 13 meeting.<\/p>\n<p>Interested parties must submit a letter of interest and<br \/>\nproof of qualification by 12 p.m. Dec. 24 to the town clerk. Applicants must be<br \/>\na registered elector of Grand Lake, at least 18 years old and have lived in<br \/>\nGrand Lake for at least 12 consecutive months preceding the date of<br \/>\nappointment.<\/p>\n<p>Questions can be directed to the town manager at <a href=\"mailto:glmanager@townofgrandlake.com\">glmanager@townofgrandlake.com<\/a><br \/>\nor at 970-531-8900.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A member on the Grand Lake Board of Trustees has resigned due to pressing personal matters.
