The Bureau of Land Management is about to enact\u00a0 annual winter restrictions on motorized travel in Grand County to reduce stress on big game herds and prevent road damage. <\/p>\n
The restrictions start Dec. 15 and continue through April 15
\nin most areas. BLM Kremmling Field Manager Bill Mills is encouraging anyone who
\nsees potential violations to report them.<\/p>\n
In the Wolford Mountain area in Grand County, which includes
\npublic lands between US Highway 40 and Grand County Road 2 (Back Troublesome
\nRoad), motorized travel is limited to over-the-snow tracked vehicles on BLM
\nadministered lands along roads 224, 25, 26 and 2 when there is a minimum of 12
\ninches of snow. <\/p>\n
All other travel routes and areas on BLM lands on Wolford
\nMountain will be closed to all motorized use. Non-motorized travel typically
\nwill be permitted throughout the area during winter travel restrictions.
\nChanging conditions may cause the restrictions to be modified in the Wolford
\narea, so check for restriction updates.<\/p>\n
Maps are available at the Kremmling Field Office, 2103 E.
\nPark Ave.; at information kiosks on County Road 224 near the former landfill,
\nCounty Road 26 off of Highway 40, and County Road 227; and at the intersection
\nof County Roads 22 and 25. <\/p>\n
The seasonal restrictions are extended in two areas of
\nWolford Mountain to protect nesting raptors \u2014 the Wolford Mountain Single Track
\nclosure continues through May 31 and the Muddy Creek Trail north of the Muddy
\nCreek fishing access bridge is closed until July 31.<\/p>\n
Additionally, motorized travel is restricted on the
\nfollowing routes to over-the-snow tracked vehicles when there is a minimum of
\n12 inches of snow unless otherwise noted. The roads may be gated until there is
\nsufficient snow.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Inspiration Point Flats Road, north of Trough Road (County
\nRoad 1)<\/p>\n
Dec. 15-June 1<\/p>\n
\u2022 Black Mountain Road from County Road 2<\/p>\n
\u2022 Sulphur Gulch Road access from US 40<\/p>\n
\u2022 Smith Mesa Road between Hot Sulphur Springs and Parshall<\/p>\n
\u2022 Kinney Creek Road east of Hot Sulphur Springs and 2.2
\nmiles north of US 40<\/p>\n
\u2022 Hogback Road from Highway 125<\/p>\n
\u2022 Strawberry Road beyond the Fraser River Canyon Trail
\nparking area. Closed to all motorized vehicles, including snowmobiles and other
\ntracked vehicles.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Hurd Peak Road from Strawberry Road. Closed to all
\nmotorized vehicles including, snowmobiles and other tracked vehicles.<\/p>\n
