The person in charge of opening the two mile trail from Grand Lake through Rocky Mountain National Park, which leads to miles and miles of open trails, is mismanaging our public land.<\/p>\n
There is more than enough snow to snowmobile in the area, but
\nthey claim there is not. Last year, the area was opened by Dec. 1. There are
\nmany Grand Lake Residents who are upset about this, including my family and
\nmany of my neighbors. <\/p>\n
People move here and buy vacation homes in the area so they have direct access to the snowmobiling trails and the forest, but even with good snow, the area is somehow not open. If you go to the trailhead in the Columbine Lake neighborhood, you will see 2 feet of snow on the trail. <\/p>\n
Also, residents would like access to this trail in the
\nsummer for UTVs and four-wheelers. But the park acts like they are preserving
\nthis sacred 15 foot wide dirt trail with barriers around it. They need to
\ngive this small piece of land back to Grand County or start better representing
\nthe people who pay their salaries.<\/p>\n
