A counselor at Middle Park High School has been selected for
\na prestigious award from the Rocky Mountain Association for College Admissions
\nCounseling.<\/p>\n
Ben Polonowski has been selected for the Cynthia Gayles
\nAward, the highest award offered by the Rocky Mountain Association. Only one
\ncounselor from each of the five affiliated states in the association is
\nselected each year.<\/p>\n
\u201cTo be selected to represent the state of Colorado is beyond
\ndescription,\u201d Polonowski said.<\/p>\n
The award is given for outstanding service in the field of college admissions to a counselor who has demonstrated hard work to get students ready for college.<\/p>\n
Polonowski\u2019s work as a counselor includes helping to grow
\nthe annual Middle Park scholarship fair, increasing college credit programs at
\nthe high school and expanding opportunities for students to visit and hear from
\ndifferent higher education options. He also spent five years as a regional
\nrepresentative for the Colorado School Counselor Association.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt is a fantastic award,\u201d Polonowski said. \u201cI feel
\nfortunate to be a part of a wonderful system at East Grand School District and Middle
\nPark High School, surrounded by a community of active learners \u2014 both students
\nand teachers.\u201d<\/p>\n
The award includes a full scholarship to a counseling
\nconference in Albuquerque, New Mexico.<\/p>\n
Polonowski said he hopes to continue helping Grand County
\nstudents move from high school to higher education.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt inspires me to continue to advocate for a community
\ncollege in this county,\u201d Polonowski said. \u201cWe are one of few counties in the
