{"id":49297,"date":"2020-06-08T10:37:37","date_gmt":"2020-06-08T16:37:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.skyhinews.com\/?p=65157"},"modified":"2020-06-08T10:37:37","modified_gmt":"2020-06-08T16:37:37","slug":"middle-park-health-fundraiser-nets-almost-50k-for-local-cancer-center","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kift\/community\/middle-park-health-fundraiser-nets-almost-50k-for-local-cancer-center\/","title":{"rendered":"Middle Park Health fundraiser nets almost $50K for local cancer center"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Middle Park Health\u2019s fifth annual Spring BASH fundraiser brought in more donations on the night of the event than any past year, raising money for a new cancer center and local scholarships.<\/p>\n<p>The March fundraiser officially collected $66,251 in donations for the hospital and introduced a new executive director, Andy Randzavich, to the Middle Park Medical Foundation, the hospital\u2019s nonprofit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c(We\u2019re) grateful to the many people who made BASH 2020 an amazing success,\u201d said Tiffany Freitag, director of community relations for Middle Park Health. \u201cIt\u2019s exciting to be in a place where we need a full-time director for the foundation \u2026 and it\u2019s a great time for Andy to join because the hospital is at such a vital turning point.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In his foundation role, Randzavich is leading the work on Middle Park Health\u2019s goal of building a local cancer treatment center at the Granby campus. Of this year\u2019s donations, around $47,000 is going to the project.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe believe that building a local center will alleviate a lot of physical and mental stress brought on by traveling for this treatment,\u201d Randzavich said. \u201cI think this is something the community really cares about.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>With the money from this year and last year\u2019s BASH fundraiser, Randzavich said almost $100,000 has been raised for the project, which the hospital hopes to fund exclusively with donations.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond an oncology center, the BASH donations also went to local scholarships for education in health care.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSince BASH has ended, we\u2019ve actually awarded over $20,000 to Middle Park Health employees and Grand County high school students,\u201d Randzavich said.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Randzavich added the foundation plans to host a September golf tournament fundraiser this year to continue raising money for the cancer center.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Middle Park Health\u2019s fifth annual Spring BASH fundraiser brought in more donations on the night of the event than any past year, raising money for a new cancer center and local scholarships.
