In Breckenridge, Colo., Aspens, Cottonwoods and a smattering of other deciduous trees\u00a0are\u00a0fully ablaze in hues of gold, yellow, red and orange.<\/p>\n

Fall\u00a0colors\u00a0peak\u00a0earlier here due to colder temperatures at higher elevations. With an elevation of 9,600′, Breckenridge generally sees leaves\u00a0start transitioning\u00a0by mid-Aug. and peak by the end of Sept.<\/p>\n

Now’s the perfect\u00a0time to\u00a0explore some classic trails in and around Breckenridge to experience the full glory of fall foliage\u00a0in the high country.\u00a0 But hurry, it’ll go fast.\u00a0 Colors\u00a0are\u00a0peaking in stages depending on the area and elevation\u00a0during the next 10 days or so.\u00a0 Many trees have already lost their leaves.<\/p>\n

Following are\u00a0five great areas to explore in and near Breckenridge on foot or mountain bike to see\u00a0vibrant fall colors:<\/p>\n

  1. French Gulch<\/strong>\u00a0– two miles East of Breckenridge, this area has a network of mellow trails with\u00a0spectacular\u00a0fall colors amongst\u00a0remnants of mines\u00a0and views of the Breckenridge Ski Resort<\/li>\n
  2. Boreas Pass<\/strong>\u00a0– one of the area’s most popular destinations for viewing fall foliage with great views of the Tenmile Range<\/li>\n
  3. Breckenridge Ski Resort<\/strong>\u00a0– the ski area has some nice stands of Aspens on the lower sections of the mountain with mellow easy to moderate hiking trails<\/li>\n
  4. McCullough Gulch<\/strong>\u00a0–\u00a0the trail is located seven miles south of Breckenridge off Hwy 9 and is one of the areas most scenic hikes<\/li>\n
  5. Placer Valley\/Alma, Colo.<\/strong>\u00a0– The area from the top of Hoosier Pass on the Continental Divide to the\u00a0Town of Alma\u00a0is ripe with gorgeous stands of Aspens and mountain scenery.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
