{"id":1383315,"date":"2018-12-28T15:43:22","date_gmt":"2018-12-28T22:43:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.postindependent.com\/?p=959448"},"modified":"2018-12-28T15:43:22","modified_gmt":"2018-12-28T22:43:22","slug":"candlelight-vigil-set-tonight-for-teenager-who-died-in-a-i-70-car-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kkch\/local-news\/candlelight-vigil-set-tonight-for-teenager-who-died-in-a-i-70-car-crash\/","title":{"rendered":"Candlelight vigil set tonight for teenager who died in a I-70 car crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"325\" height=\"325\" src=\"https:\/\/www.postindependent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/CrashKillsTeenGirl-vdn-122818-1-325x325.jpg\" class=\"attachment-medium-large size-medium-large wp-post-image\" alt=\"\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.postindependent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/CrashKillsTeenGirl-vdn-122818-1-325x325.jpg 325w, https:\/\/www.postindependent.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/CrashKillsTeenGirl-vdn-122818-1-325x325-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 325px) 100vw, 325px\" \/><\/figure>\n<p>EAGLE \u2014Supporters will join together tonight to remember and honor an Eagle Valley High School senior who died Wednesday in a single-car crash.<\/p>\n<p>A candlelight vigil for Megan Lodge will begin at 7 p.m. Friday, in Eagle&#8217;s Chambers Park, the visitors center at the Eagle I-70 interchange.<\/p>\n<p>Eagle Valley High School and the school district opened the school Friday morning with counselors and others, to help students cope with the tragic loss.<\/p>\n<p>Among her many high school activities, Lodge was a member of Eagle Valley&#8217;s speech team, and advanced to the national competition.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, Lodge was also a student director for Eagle Valley&#8217;s production of &#8220;Almost Maine.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The 17-year old Lodge was the sole occupant of the Toyota 4Runner she was driving, according to the Colorado State Patrol.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What happened<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>At 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, Lodge was just east of Eagle, driving west on Interstate 70 in the Toyota 4Runner. The vehicle left the westbound lane, crossed the median into the eastbound lane, and rolled.<\/p>\n<p>Lodge was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene.
