{"id":1384108,"date":"2019-01-07T14:28:35","date_gmt":"2019-01-07T21:28:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.postindependent.com\/?p=961573"},"modified":"2019-01-07T14:28:35","modified_gmt":"2019-01-07T21:28:35","slug":"discrimination-challenge-by-colorado-baker-in-same-sex-cake-case-can-continue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kkch\/local-news\/discrimination-challenge-by-colorado-baker-in-same-sex-cake-case-can-continue\/","title":{"rendered":"Discrimination challenge by Colorado baker in same-sex cake case can continue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DENVER (AP) \u2014 A judge says the latest legal challenge by a Colorado baker who refused to make a wedding cake for a gay couple can continue.<\/p>\n<p>In a ruling Friday, U.S. District Judge Wiley Daniel rejected Colorado&#8217;s arguments that the federal court should stay out of the dispute over whether the state is treating Jack Phillips unfairly by prosecuting him for refusing to make a cake celebrating a gender transition.<\/p>\n<p>The Supreme Court ruled in June that Colorado civil rights commissioners showed anti-religious bias when it sanctioned Phillips, a Christian, for refusing to make the wedding cake in 2012.
