Colorado Mountain College will host an open house in Glenwood Springs Friday afternoon to celebrate its continuing education classes for the upcoming semester. <\/p>\n

The college invites guests to meet instructors, learn about the classes being offered and share their own ideas for future classes CMC should offer.<\/p>\n

“I see my job as giving back to the community, and what better way to do that than continuing education?” Annmarie Deter, coordinator of continuing education for CMC Glenwood Springs, said in a statement. “People light up, they get excited when I ask them what kinds of classes they want to take \u2014 whether it’s pottery, or cooking or woodworking.” <\/p>\n

CMC’s continuing education program offers noncredit classes to help people pursue special interests including art, music, dance, photography, and woodcrafts. The program also offers self-improvement classes like nutrition, physical activities and recreation, as well as skill-building classes in business, technology and language.<\/p>\n

CMC’s continuing education classes are typically offered based on community demand. In the 1970s, “Slimnastics” and macram\u00e9 were popular classes, but now people sign up for classes called “Booty Barre” and “Use Your iPad and iPhone to Their Full Potential,” according to a press release. The college draws from local expertise to teach courses like fly-fishing, homeopathic remedies and mosaics.<\/p>\n

The Friday open house will run from 4-7 p.m. at the college’s Glenwood Center, located at 1402 Blake Ave.<\/p>\n
