Jared Polis said Thursday the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.colorado.gov\/governor\/sites\/default\/files\/b_2019-002_zev.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">steps<\/a>\u00a0are part of his efforts to combat climate change.<\/p>\n<p>That includes a goal to achieve 100 percent electricity generation from renewable sources by 2040.<\/p>\n<p>The Democrat says promoting electric vehicles, buses and trucks is essential to that goal.<\/p>\n<p>Polis is creating a working group to promote electric vehicles.<\/p>\n<p>He&#8217;s also asking the state Department of Transportation to develop similar policies.<\/p>\n<p>Polis says some state funds will be invested in electric vehicles and infrastructure, such as a growing network of charging stations.<\/p>\n<p>Those funds come from a settlement with Volkswagen, which in 2015 admitted it cheated on emissions tests for cars sold in the U.S.<\/p>\n<p> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.postindependent.com\/news\/polis-promotes-electric-zero-emission-vehicles\/\" target=\"_blank\">via:: Post Independent<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Colorado&#8217;s new governor is taking several steps to promote the use of electric and zero-emission vehicles.
