Copper Mountain Resort announced on Friday evening, Dec. 22, that the resort has officially opened uphill access for the 2023-24 winter season.
The announcement allows uphill enthusiasts to explore Routes 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 8 while Route 7 will remain closed until conditions permit safe access. Uphill access to Route 1 will be closed on Dec. 23 and Dec. 31.
Copper season pass and Ikon Pass holders can enjoy uphill access as part of their pass benefits. However, registration is mandatory. Uphill armbands and slips can be obtained at the Mammut store in Center Village. If uphill members possess a yellow armband from the 22/23 season, all they’ll need is the 2023-24 season slip. Those without a yellow armband or new to the uphill program must pay a $5 fee for the armband.
In conjunction to Copper providing uphill access to the public, the resort will also host several uphill races throughout the rest of the winter. Presented by Mammut, there will be four races this winter season with the first taking place on Jan. 27.
Registration is $25 per race or $75 for all four and is open to the public. For parking, uphill access users can park in Copper’s interior lots for free until 8:30 am. After 8:30 am, users must pay using the QR code on parking lot signage. Vehicles left without payment may be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense. Parking hangtags are available at guest services when obtaining the armband.
The Mammut store also provides uphill rentals and tours for those without their own gear or new to the sport.
