What goods or services do you provide? We are a minimally invasive ambulatory surgery center. We specialize in bunion, hammer toe and heel spur corrections.

What’s new or exciting at your place? We are constantly innovating our technique of minimally invasive surgeries. Courtney’s grandfather was an innovator in minimally invasive surgery and our family has been working to perfect this unbelievable technique for over 50 years.

What strategy do you use to differentiate your business from your competition? Our technique of minimally invasive bunion surgery is truly amazing. There is no general anesthesia, no permanent hardware, virtually no scarring and our patients literally walk out of surgery. One of our employees from Vail Valley Pharmacy had her left bunion removed on a Tuesday, her right one done on Wednesday. She not only drove herself to and from both surgeries from Edwards, she came to work at the pharmacy both days and finished her shift. She was wearing her favorite shoes again in a few weeks.

What philosophy do you follow in dealing with your customers? I would love for readers to check out our Google reviews for The Bunion Cure. There are over 180 five-star reviews and all of them go into detail about the customer service. The same way we implemented a truly different patient experience at Vail Valley Pharmacy, we introduced it at The Bunion Cure. From the first phone call to the final check up, our friendly staff will make you feel comfortable, informed and at home.

Tell us a little about your background, education, and experience: Courtney and I moved to the Valley in 2007 after we graduated with our Doctor of Pharmacy degrees. We lived in Vail at first, then Minturn and settled in Edwards, where we lived until 2020. We opened Vail Valley Pharmacy with Larry and Ursula Nisonoff in 2012 because we felt that the valley lacked a pharmacy that provided the customer service that people deserved.

I worked at Courtney’s grandfather’s surgery center in Wisconsin for five years to learn how to run it, and decided to open our own center in 2016.

My father was diagnosed with ALS on April 17, 2020. When I asked him what he wanted to accomplish with the rest of his life, he said he wanted to get to know my kids. That was one of the factors that pulled us away. While he was able, he lived with us and established a fantastic relationship with our two sons, Chase and Oliver.

What’s the most humorous thing that’s happened at your business since you’ve opened? We get patients from all over the world for our procedure. Every walk of life comes through our doors, from 70-year-old ranchers in Longmont, to downhill skiers from Switzerland. One patient is a dancer. We do not put in any permanent hardware; therefore, the foot remains flexible with no restrictions after surgery. She’s a very pleasant lady and was extremely happy with the results. When it came time to pay, she handed a huge sack of cash in denominations from $1 bills to $100s.
