Khalid appears at various points, harmonizing on the chorus and adding soulful vocalese to the song\u2019s climax.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI discovered Khalid\u2019s music a few years ago and have been a fan ever since,\u201d John said in a statement about the collaboration. \u201cWe finally met when I played his home town of El Paso last year. It\u2019s a thrill to be a small part of any new artists\u2019 journey, and it\u2019s been wonderful to see his star continue to rise and rise. \u2018Young Dumb &amp; Broke\u2019 is a fabulous song, one of my favorites, and I\u2019m really pleased that he liked my cover enough to contribute vocals.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>John paired \u201cYoung Dumb &amp; Broke\u201d with a relatively straightforward version of his signature <em>Goodbye Yellow Brick Road<\/em> hit \u201cBennie and the Jets,\u201d highlighted by a climactic piano solo and flurry of synthesizers.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The singer \u2013\u00a0who released most recent LP, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-album-reviews\/wonderful-crazy-night-194047\/\"><em>Wonderful Crazy Night<\/em><\/a>, in 2016 \u2013 is currently deep into his <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/music\/music-news\/elton-john-north-american-dates-to-farewell-tour-729350\/\">massive farewell tour<\/a>.
