Marr was a member of Johnson\u2019s band, the The, from 1988 through 1994. The duo gave the song its premiere last month at a show at London\u2019s Roundhouse; they recorded this version at the show\u2019s soundcheck.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s been great to record with Matt again and to play alongside his amazing voice,\u201d Marr says in a statement. \u201cThe The is part of my life and we both always loved \u2018Summer in the City.\u2019 We\u2019ve made it our own.\u201d Johnson and Marr previously reunited last year to record the The\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=oAudkj4U-H4\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cWe Can\u2019t Stop What\u2019s Coming.\u201d<\/a> That song appeared in a documentary about the The called <em>The Inertia Variations<\/em>. They also released it as a seven-inch.<\/p>\n<p>Marr is releasing the audio from his Roundhouse show \u2014 which marked the first time in 25 years that he and Johnson shared a stage \u2014 via <a href=\"https:\/\/shop.johnnymarr.com\/collections\/live-recordings\/products\/bundle-of-both-live-cds\" rel=\"nofollow\" target=\"_blank\">his website<\/a>.
