{"id":479965,"date":"2018-12-17T07:50:59","date_gmt":"2018-12-17T14:50:59","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/?p=769986"},"modified":"2018-12-17T07:50:59","modified_gmt":"2018-12-17T14:50:59","slug":"watch-paul-mccartney-team-up-with-ringo-starr-ronnie-wood-onstage-for-get-back","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alwaysmountaintime.com\/kqzr\/music-news\/watch-paul-mccartney-team-up-with-ringo-starr-ronnie-wood-onstage-for-get-back\/","title":{"rendered":"Watch Paul McCartney Team Up With Ringo Starr, Ronnie Wood Onstage For \u2018Get Back\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/GettyImages-1083588806.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\"\/><\/div>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/paul-mccartney\/\" id=\"auto-tag_paul-mccartney\" data-tag=\"paul-mccartney\">Paul McCartney<\/a> reunited with former Beatles bandmate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/ringo-starr\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ringo-starr\" data-tag=\"ringo-starr\">Ringo Starr<\/a> onstage Sunday for a rendition of the British band\u2019s hit \u201cGet Back.\u201d The pair were joined by Rolling Stones guitarist <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rollingstone.com\/t\/ronnie-wood\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ronnie-wood\" data-tag=\"ronnie-wood\">Ronnie Wood<\/a> for the rollicking, surprise performance at London\u2019s O2 Arena.<\/p>\n<p>McCartney, who is currently touring in support of his recent album <em>Egypt Station<\/em>, told the audience,\u00a0\u201cWe\u2019ve got a little surprise for you. It\u2019s a surprise for us, actually \u2013 it only happened today.\u201d Starr settled behind a drum kit near the front of the stage while Wood grabbed an electric guitar, adding some improvised licks mid-song alongside McCartney and his band. The musicians extended the three-minute tune with an extra chorus before hugging in celebration at the end.<\/p>\n<p>Before he left the stage Starr remarked,\u00a0\u201cI don\u2019t know about you, but that was a thrill for me. Peace and love everybody and a Merry Christmas.\u201d\u00a0<span>As the duo exited, McCartney added,\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m just going to let that moment sink in.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The packed concert included several other celebrities in the audience, including the Who\u2019s\u00a0Roger Daltrey. McCartney\u2019s daughter, fashion designer\u00a0Stella McCartney, posted a photo of her dad along with Starr, Wood and actress Emma Thompson on Instagram, teasing the possible onstage collaboration.\u00a0\u201cEmma Thompson a couple of Beatles a stone and moi\u2026 kick ass tonight dad,\u201d she wrote.<\/p>\n<p>McCartney performed a lengthy setlist at the O2, including solo numbers and tracks from Wings. He also added a rendition of\u00a0\u201cWonderful Christmastime.\u201d The musician will bring the show to the U.S. next year, kicking off the trek in May at the Smoothie King Arena in New Orleans.
