Neil Young<\/a> has revealed plans to reissue his and Crazy Horse\u2019s 1990 LP Ragged Glory<\/em> with an extra LP\u2019s worth of \u201cundiscovered and unheard\u201d songs from the album\u2019s original sessions.\u00a0According to the Neil Young Archives website<\/a>, Ragged Glory<\/em> engineer John Hanlon recently rediscovered tapes from the album\u2019s recording sessions and with them a cache of tracks that were left off the album.<\/p>\n

\u201cListening to these tracks is a real head scratcher,\u201d Neil Young Archives wrote. \u201cThey are equal to anything on the existing record, maybe better. Possibly, the thought at the time was to have a single album and not include the songs from the last half of the unique \u2018set oriented\u2019 recording sessions.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ragged Glory<\/em>, one of Rolling Stone<\/em>\u2018s 100 Best Albums of the 1990s<\/a>, boasts classics like \u201cFuckin\u2019 Up,\u201d \u201cMother Earth (Natural Anthem),\u201d \u201cWhite Line\u201d and \u201cMansion on the Hill\u201d alongside Crazy Horse jams \u201cLove to Burn\u201d and \u201cLove and Only Love.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Neil Young Archives detailed the unique Ragged Glory<\/em> sessions where Young and Crazy Horse played the same set of songs twice a day for two weeks at California\u2019s Plywood Analog studio. The bulk of those recordings became Ragged Glory<\/em>. However, \u201cafter the songs were played enough so that the band was sure they must have the takes, the Horse, having a great time, kept playing other songs.\u201d<\/p>\n

The result of those extra sessions: \u201c38 minutes of Crazy Horse classics, mostly undiscovered and unheard before.\u201d<\/p>\n

Neil Young Archives adds that the double-album Ragged Glory II<\/em>, as the reissue will be called, will \u201cprobably\u201d be released on vinyl, CD and high-definition digital in 2019, which could result in the delay of other potential Archives projects<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Earlier this month, Young officially released<\/a> his oft-bootlegged \u201cBernstein Tapes\u201d as the 1976 live album\u00a0Songs for Judy<\/em>.<\/p>\n
